The purpose of this study was to examine the effects of resistance training following change of exercise timing in circadian cycle on male's sex hormone(testosterone, LH, cortisol) and blood lipid(TC, TG, HDL-C, LDL-C) The subjects consisted of 16 males in college students and were divided into morning training group(AMG) and afternoon training group(PMG). The subjects were exercised 70% strength of 1 RM and performed training program that change of exercise timing for 3 days after resistance exercise during 4 weeks. All dates were analyzed by two way ANOVA with repeated measures of SPSS 14.0 PC program and accepting level for all significances was above α=0.05. The results were as follows: 1. The change of male's sex hormone(testosterone, LH, cortisol) by resistance training during 4 weeks showed no significantly difference between group(p>.05). 2. The cortisol concentration by change of exercise timing significantly decreased in both AMG and PMG as compare with before and after 4 weeks(p.05). 4. The changes of TC and LDL-C concentration by resistance training during 4 weeks showed significantly difference both of groups between before and after resistance training(p.05). 5. The changes of TG & HDL-C concentration by resistance training during 4 weeks showed no significantly difference either by group or by timing(p>.05). 6. The changes of blood lipid(TC, TG, HDL-C, LDL-C) by change of exercise timing showed no significant difference in either AMG or PMG(p>.05). As shown above, TC & LDL-C of blood significantly decreased through regular resistance exercise of 70% strength of 1 RM during 4 weeks. This means that not only aerobic exercise but also regular resistance exercise has an effective influence on a decrease of blood lipid. Furthermore, we assume that there is no more effective timing of resistance training for a decrease of blood lipid. The changes of male's sex hormone concentration made no significant difference in either AMG or PMG during 4 weeks, but irregular exercise through change of exercise timing significantly decreased cortisol concentration. It's probably because the HPA axis suppress CRH function by change of exercise timing induced collapse of circadian rhythm. Consequently, regular resistance training during 4 weeks effectively decreased blood lipid both AM and PM timing. However, irregular resistance training against circadian rhythm decreased normal level of cortisol secretion in the morning.
