섬유.의류산업의 글로벌공급망관리를 위한 Agile Supply Chain의 구조적 관계분석 An Analysis on Structural Relations of Agile Supply Chains for Global Supply Chain Management of Textile & Clothing Industry원문보기

Recently, the characteristics of the global markets have totally transfered from the consumer-oriented to the supplier-oriented, and entrepreneurs are beginning to recognize the fact that the traditional mass-production method would no longer guarantee their survival in the globally competitive environment. This change has made most of the entrepreneurs seriously realize the necessity to enhance the values of customers' needs, as well as to bear aggressive business minds and introduce new management strategies capable of maintaining competitiveness and heightening efficiency as global players. One of those new management strategies includes the supply chain management where entrepreneurs focus on controlling all supply chain ranging from the capability of responding rapidly to the environmental change in the international commodity markets, to the supply of raw materials, to the production of commodities, and to the transfer of commodities and providing customer services. The supply chain management aims to find out the generic stream of value for a specific commodity, arising from the initial process of manufacturing commodities to the final step of purchasing them by customers, by eliminating all components irrelevant to the generic stream of value, and to list the value-generating activities in order of importance, and furthermore to take those activities more perfectly and effectively, whenever necessary, so as to make the stream of value added to the customers as one of the best system. Especially, whether the supply chain management for the textile and clothing industry succeeds or not depends on its resilience and sensitivity, due to the industry-specific features such as short life span, great volatility of demand, low capability likelihood of forecast and high tendency of irrational purchases by customers. Hence, it seems likely to be of great importance for the entrepreneurs to respond rapidly to the change in the preference of customers and market trend, that is, to provide with customers in a short period of time the final outputs that they demand. This is both the problem to be addressed by the corresponding industry and the critical factor for its success in the market. It seems worthwhile to note that most studies in the literature on the supply chain management tend to emphasize the internal management efficiency of the entrepreneur to obtain its profit maximization or cost minimization. Most studies touched on the issues as to the change in internal system of the entrepreneur and the efficient reorganization of business structure. However, they did not consider the issues key to the global business, such as how the relationships with other external organizations and the upper and lower stream partners in the supply chain, and influence of customers tend to take effect on the global supply chain of the entrepreneur. The purpose of this study is twofold. Firstly, it aims to examine the key factors to the efficient scheme of entrepreneur's strategy and management and its extended applicability in the total supply chain of the textile and fabric industry. Secondly, it attempts an empirical analysis on the structural relationship of agile supply chain for the global supply chain management in the industry based on the correlations between factors key, which were analyzed using the real-time data on the demand in the industry in the global business environments. Notice that the questionnaires for the entrepreneurs pertinent to the textile and clothing industry are used for the real-time data. The key findings drawn from the empirical analysis are as follows. Firstly, the textile and clothing industry needs to be defined in terms of an organic cooperative system based on the specialized production theory and international logistics theory. Secondly, it is possible to analyze comparatively the performance of the textile and fabric industry by applying the Lean, Agile and Leagile supply chain, finding that the most efficient strategic approach to the supply chain management in the textile and clothing industry turns out to be the Agile supply chain. Finally, it is shown that the empirical results drawn based on the hypothesis of the Agile supply chain are quite inconsistent with the reality. Its main underlying reason may be the hidden internal factors in the textile and clothing industry, such as the industry-specific features and processes, which differ from other industry.
