The free radical scavenging capacity of alcohol extract(60℃) was bigger than that of BHT(butylated hydroxytoluene) and distilled water extract(90℃) was equivalent to capacity of alcohol extract(60℃). In microbroth dilution method, antimicrobial effect of both extracts against Propionibacteriun acne and Pseudomonas aeruginosa was trivial but antimicrobial effect of both extracts against Staphylococcus epidermidis, Staphylococcus aureus, Pityrosporum ovale had been shown. In the concentration of extracts from 1.0 to 1.5%, the sterilizing power of both extracts was similar to that of synthetic preservative such as methyl paraben, propyl paraben.
