Recently, meditation is gaining attention as a meansself-control method which helps the mothers to deal with the stress appropriately. (Shappiro, 1985 & Jang Hyen Kap. 1990). The purpose of this research is to study the mothers' anxiety, depression, and their own ways of stress-coping and its effects through the K-MBSR program. In this study. the experimental group consists of twelve mothers from a special achool A in Seoul who volunteered td participate of Local school concil, and the control group is composed of other twelve mothers who are not aware of this study. The K-MBSR program was provided to the experimental group once a week for a total of eight sessions ranging from 120 to 150minutes. The participants completed three scales for pre-test and post- test. This study used the materials as follows: Beck's Depression Inventory (BDI). Spielberger's State-trait Anxiety Inventory (STAI). and Folkman and Lazarus's 'The ways of Coping checklist'. The paired t-test was used to examine the treatment effect with experimental Group. The indepent t-teat was also used to find out difference between therapeutic Group and contral group. The followings are the findings of this study: First, the mothers who participated in the K-MBSR program showed lower anxiety levels in the post-experiment test, in comparison with the control group. Second, the mothers in the experimental group showed a reduction in depression afterwards. Third, the mothers who participated in the K-MBSR program showed enhanced stress-coping ability. However, the subjects showed meaningful changes in problem-focused coping, emotion-focused coping, and social-support coping among the four stress management sub-factors. On the other hand, they did not show meaningful changes in hope focused coping. Therefore. the study notes that the K-MBSK program contributes positively to the mothers with disabled children, not only physically but also mentally, by helping them to deal with daily stress which might impair the happiness of their family. Moreover, they will be able to improve their quality of life which will lead to their well-being.
