According to the statistical analysis on electrical fires during the last decade, most electrical fires have been generated by a short circuit, overload or leakage current on electrical wires and equipment. In order to prevent electrical fires by these causes, presently users install MCCB(Molded Case Circuit Breaker) for overload and short circuit, and ELB(Electrical Leakage Breaker) compulsorily, to prevent leakage current. However, these schemes are not efficient for the prevention of electrical fires, resulting in the continuous occurrence of electrical fires. This paper presents the measurement and estimation of the thermal interrelation of leakage current based on electric fire. Electric fire model of leakage currents combined with wood dust, rainwater and charcoal powder in an open environment and panel was made and thermal interrelation of the leakage current and temperature was elicited. Also, problems regarding electric fire investigation were shown. At temperature change of open environment, there are 70㎃ of charcoal powder, 60㎃ of rainwater and wood powder above the allowable temperature of house wiring. Specially, when a leakage current of 110㎃ flows in charcoal powder, the fire occurs around combustibles. At temperature change of closed environment, there are 30㎃ of charcoal powder, 60㎃ of rainwater and wood powder above the allowable temperature of house wiring. If a leakage current of 29㎃, which is below the ELB operation current, flowed in charcoal powder, the fire occurrence probability was high. In the case that a carbonization trace was in panel, it needed maintenance or replacement with new electric equipment and wiring The 50 data of fire occurrence found in the synthetic report from the Chung Cheong area indicate that if information of leakage current paths in open and closed environments and fire occurrence possibility of the thermal energy which is sufficient from the leakage current path presented concretely, the number of leakage fires would be reduced. The results obtained in this thesis can be used for analysing the electrical hazards and criterion of leakage circuit breaker.
