The purpose of this study is to discover the effects of Picture Exchange Communication System intervention on students who have non verbal cerebral palsy and especially to find out whether PECS intervention can improve their spontaneous communication and social interaction ability. The results of this study were as follows; First, I studied the effects of PECS intervention on behavior that students with non verbal cerebral palsy ask foods Second, I studied the effects of PECS intervention on behavior that students with non verbal cerebral palsy ask to go to a restroom. Third, I studied the effects of PECS intervention on behavior that students with non verbal cerebral palsy greet people. This study is to find out the effect of PECS intervention on a spontaneous demand behavior of students with non verbal cerebral palsy. For this purpose, choosing one male student and one female student in their twenties out of students with non verbal cerebral palsy in a special class at a high school in Goryeong-gun, Kyungsangpook-do. I used the method of PECS intervention and the results are as follows; First, even though the level of improvement was different depending on the student’s own individual traits, PECS intervention had positive effect on improvement of their spontaneous behavior of asking foods. When PECS intervention began, both of the students as subjects of this research began to show their own spontaneous demand behavior which was not in the basic-line and the average frequency was kept, showing a higher performance rate in the later half of the intervention stage than the first half. Second, even though the level of improvement was different depending on the student’s own individual traits, PECS intervention had positive effect on improvement of their spontaneous behavior of asking to go to a restroom. When PECS intervention began, both of the students as subjects of this research began to show their own spontaneous demand behavior which was not in the basic-line and the average frequency was kept, showing a higher performance rate in the later half of the intervention stage than the first half. Third, even though the level of improvement was different depending on the student’s own individual traits, PECS intervention had positive effect on improvement of their spontaneous behavior of greetings. When PECS intervention began, both of the students as subjects of this research began to show their own spontaneous demand behavior which was not in the basic-line and the average frequency was kept, showing a higher performance rate in the later half of the intervention stage than the first half. Even after the end of the intervention, the research subjects’ demand behavior function was kept. Ability of asking foods, asking to go to restroom, and greeting was different depending on the individual student. However, overall, average performance rate of the intervention was kept.
