The Effects of Aerobic Exercise on Control of Hypertension The purpose of this study was to investigated the effect of aerobic exercise on management of Hypertensive Middle-aged Women With Antihypertensive Agents (age 40~60). blood pressure, vascular compliance and blood lipids. The subjects were divided into two groups; no exercise with antihypertensive agents group (CON, n=15), exercise with antihypertensive agents group (EX, n=15). In the exercise with antihypertensive agents group, aerobic exercise were performed 45 minutes a day at 1st week, 60 minutes a day from 2nd to 12th weeks, 5 times a week during a 12weeks program used treadmill with 50 %HRR and 60 %HRR, respectively. This study were measured changes of cardiovascular system index (rest heart rate, systolic and diastolic blood pressure, rate pressure product; RPP, and vascular compliance; PWV), and also measured cardiovascular system risk factors (BMI, total cholesterol; TC, triglyceride; TG,, and glucose) in a rest condition before and after the training period. The results were as follows : First, in EX group, rest heart rate, systolic and diastolic blood pressure, and RPP were significant decreased, and left and right PWV were improved after the 12weeks training, and all items have significant decreased and improved in EX group compared to those of CON group, respectively. Second, in EX group has significant increased on BMI, and significant decreased on TC, TG, and glucose, respectively, and all items have significant decreased in EX group compared to those of CON group, respectively. Consequently, these results suggested that aerobic exercise is required a hypertensive middle-aged women with antihypertensive agents for management of a blood pressure and vascular compliance and blood lipids.
