In general, diamond wheel is used to cut the LCD glass in the process of manufacturing TFT LCD. Its problem is that the method of using the diamond wheel causes too much lateral crack due to the force imposed over the cutting surface. The present study suggests that ultrasonic waves be applied to the method of using diamond wheel to cut LCD glass and that ultrasonic wave scribe be made to make estimation concerning the cutting surface of glass depending on approval frequency and force imposed over the wheel. When the method of cutting LCD glass suggested in the present study is applied to cut the LCD glass in the same conditions, the result was output as below: median crack increases by 13% and 7% in the approved frequencies 60 ㎑ and 85 ㎑, respectively. Besides, lateral crack is formed at the frequency of as much as 60 ㎑ 3.5 ㎛ on average less than at that of as much as 85 ㎑, there by producing better quality of cutting. At the result of the study, better dispersion of cracks of 3.4 ㎛ was formed on the cutting surface at 60 ㎑ rather than that of 6.4 ㎛ at 85 ㎑ in the respect of the standard deviation of the median crack. The median crack increased by 2~3% as the cutting speed increased. The median crack has not changed whether or not ultrasonic wave was applied. As the result, the cutting speed and ultrasonic wave do not interact each other.
