In this paper, we have looked upon the Bel Canto Opera, which brought the revival in Italian Opera in the early 1800s, and examined the distinct characteristics of the Bel Canto Opera through the works of the prestigious Bel Canto Opera composers such as Rossini, Donizetti, and Bellini. Out of theses celebrated composers, Bellini has left the least number of works, however, he is indeed a prominent figure in the history of Italian Opera. His operas are distinguished by the remarkable lyrical melodies. In this paper we have seen the content and musical components, such as composition of instruments and organization of melody and harmony, of , the last opera created by Bellini. In particular, the conclusion we have made after doing a thorough analysis on the two Arias of Elvira, the heroin, is the following. First, the various instruments not only increased the dramatic effect, but also intensified the beauty of the melody. Second, in the structure of the tune, the boundaries were tore down so that the musical severance was minimized. Third, we could see that the irregular and long melody, one of the distinct characteristics of Bellini's Operas, was created by repetitive clauses that were extended through extension of harmonies and delayed conclusion. These are standardized harmonic progression based on classical organizations of clauses. The main characteristics of Bellini's Arias were analyzed to be the excellently illustrated romantic sensitivity in the Bel Canto Melody expressed by using strong non-harmonic sounds, appoggiatura, and fermata that intensifies the musical tension within the boundaries of the classical style.
