The present research analyzed the content of 3 kinds of toxic heavy metals such as Mercury, Lead and Cadmium contained as well as 5 kinds of nutritional minerals of Iron, Copper, Manganese, Phosphorus and Zinc in hair through hair analysis with the target of 60 persons consisting of 30 residents in a coastal region(Taean) and 30 residents in an inland area(Nonsan) in order to find out the effect that the environmental factor due to regional difference affects the content of heavy metals and minerals. As a result of analyzing toxic heavy metals according to a region, in the content of Mercury, Lead and Cadmium, a coastal region(Taean) respectively appeared as 1.562±1.084㎍/g, 1.380±1.168㎍/g and 0.035±0.044㎍/g, and an inland area(Nonsan) respectively appeared as 0.576±0.343㎍/g, 0.731±0.734㎍/g and 0.012±0.016㎍/g, so the Taean region showed a higher content of toxic heavy metals than the Nonsan region. Therefore, the content of Mercury(p<.01), Lead(p<.05) and Cadmium(p<.01) showed a statistically significant difference according to the region. In case of Mercury, 60% of Taean residents and 10% of Nonsan residents appeared as the surplus population, and there was a statistically significant difference. As a result of gender analysis on the content of Mercury and Cadmium, men showed 1.393±1.173㎍/g and 0.035±0.046㎍/g respectively. Therefore, men showed a higher content, compared to the Mercury content of 0.744±0.449㎍/g and the Cadmium content of 0.035±0.046㎍/g of women, so the content of Mercury and Cadmium according to the gender showed a statistically significant difference(p<.01). As a result of age analysis, it appeared that the older the age range is, the higher the content of Mercury, Lead and Cadmium is, and there wasn't a statistically significant difference. As a result of analyzing nutritional minerals according to the region, the content of Iron, Manganese and Zinc of Taean residents respectively appeared as 9.914±2.633㎍/g, 0.356±0.162㎍/g and 153.410±36.445㎍/g, and the content of Iron, Manganese and Zinc of Nonsan residents appeared as 8.300±1.778㎍/g, 0.313±0.226㎍/g and 146.660±25.353㎍/g, so 17%, 10% and 50% of Taean residents respectively appeared as a deficient group in the content of Iron, Manganese and Zinc. 27%, 33% and 57% of the Nonsan residents highly appeared as a deficient group in the content of Iron, Manganese and Zinc, respectively, and there was a statistically significant difference(p<.05). As a result of gender analysis, 0% and 57% of men respectively showed a deficient group in the content of Iron and Copper, and 44%, 67% of women respectively showed a deficient group in the content of Iron and Copper, so the ratio of deficient groups of women appeared highly compared to men. The content of Iron showed a significant difference according to the gender(p<.01) As a result of age analysis on the content of Iron, Copper and Manganese, persons in their 30s respectively showed 8.392± 2.253㎍/g, 17.731±9.712㎍/g and 0.296± 0.164㎍/g, persons in their 40s respectively showing 8.914± 2.253㎍/g, 17.676±10.030㎍/g and 0.275±0.144㎍/g, and persons in their 50s respectively showed 10.015±2.875㎍/g, 22.158±24.288㎍/g and 0.432±0.238㎍/g, so it appeared that the older their age gets, its content increases, and the content of Iron and Manganese showed a statistically significant difference according to the age(p<.05). As a result of hair analysis, it appeared that the difference in the region, gender and age has influence on the content of toxic heavy metals, and the content of Mercury, Lead and Cadmium appeared highly in Taean, coastal region. It is thought that as it showed a statistically significant difference, the regional difference due to an environmental factor has big influence on accumulation of heavy metals inside the body. It appeared that the content of nutritional minerals is different according to the gender and age, rather than regional difference. It is thought that it is because the difference in requirements of nutritional minerals due to physiological differences according to the gender and the nutritional imbalance, etc. due to dietary changes of a young age group have a big influence.
