This study does not focus on the method based on the theory of a recorder but rather on the method based on developing practical skills on how to learn the alto recorder fingering step by step, as the soprano recorder is learned from 3rd Grade. The recorder, as a pure artistic musical instrument, is easy to play at first, compared to other wind instruments. The sizes of the C and F recorders are different, but the fingerings are the same. So, someone can learn the fingering of the Soprano recorder, he or she can also play the Alto recorder. The recorder can be used both in a duet consisting of the same musical instruments, or in an ensemble. Moreover, if one learns to play the recorder it's much easier to learn other wind instruments since the recorder has the basics of all wind instruments. To get some idea of the basic knowledge about a recorder and a phased teaching program, there were literature reviews through precedent studies, data, and the analysis of the third, fourth and fifth grade music books. The teaching data is as follows: 1. The teaching data compose the understanding of a recorder (5 periods), learning how to learn an alto recorder fingering (9 periods) and music repertoires of a soprano recorder (6 periods) in order to master basic theory and practical technique of recorder. 2. The understanding of recorder composes the different kinds of recorders, their histories, and their structures. This also compose tonguing and the method of breathing to give practical help at teaching the recorder. 3. Some études were given to teach the fingering for C major and F major recorders to be practiced for both a soprano and alto fingering. They compose in three parts such as études for basic fingering, instrumental pieces, and development according to the various level of students. This study for 5th grade students in elementary school has them acquire the playing methods of the recorder stage by stage. There isn't enough gradual teaching contents and methods of recorder for teaching the elemantary schoolchild. More data on a recorder will have to be developed in order for the recorder to play a role as a basic musical instrument in the educational field. I hope new and creative studies teaching the recorder will be performed actively and they will be used effectively in music class, club activities and also after-school activities of each school.
