ABSTRACT A Study of Eun Hui Gyeong's 『A Present of a bird 』 focused on the double narrative of Growth Kim Young-ok Department of Korean Education Graduate School of Education, Kong-Ju National University Supervised by professor Cho Dong-Keel This study aims to find the meaning in the Eun Hui Gyeong's 『A Present of a bird 』. In order to the find "meaning', I analyzed narrative in the Eun Hui Gyeong's 『A Present of a bird 』. As a result, I have gotten the fact, this work has double rarrative of growth. That is it, Jin hee's narrative and Jin hee's mother's sister(Chon Young-ok) narrative. These two be closely connected, accompanied by each other. Absence of Father bring about dynamic Growth. It deserves special emphasis. In chapter Ⅱ, Arranged the concept of Growth novel and narrative structure. To classify this work, I divided events and narrative. there·through I founded "Division Attention" and "Stop Tear" in the Jin Hee's narrative. In chapter Ⅲ located Jin hee's mother's sister(Chon Young-ok) narrative. Her narrative is "Compromise" and "accept". Jin Hee's narrative and Jin hee's mother's sister(Chon Young-ok) has fundamental subject like that absence of father. But These Two are different. I analyzed the novel by two factors - ‘Event’ and the 'narrative structure'. As a result, I found that there effect mechanisms of 'Division Attention‘ and 'Stop Tear’ in the narrative of Jin hee, and 'Compromise' and 'accept' in the narrative of Jin hee's mother's sister. It also appears the fundamental structure of a growth novel, the absence of the father, in their narratives. It effected differently by the situation. In Jin hee's life, it strongly influenced her that it had taken up the core of her life. In contrast, in the life of Jin hee's mother's sister, it impacted weakly, possibly because the mother and the older brother took the role of the father. They had been bound up each other during their growth. In consequence, the Jin hee's mother sister pain became Jin hee's and the maturity of the Jin hee's mother sister brought up that of Jin hee also. The way they had watched each other and exchange experience encouraged their mental growth. However, results of their growth were different. At the end of the novel, Jin hee, who had gotten strong experience which her father's absence brought to her became a cynical character while her aunt become a person who keeps spiritual purity in herself. What I have learned through this study is that the structure of this novel is double narrative and contains narrative of growth of two characters connected by each other. Additionally, it can be said that connectedness between two was a crucial condition brought about their growth.
