Microcystis의 발생 정도는 조류예보제의 엽록소 a 농도(A: >150 ㎍ L^(-1), B: 100~150 ㎍ L^(-1), C: 25~99 ㎍ ^(-1))를 기준으로 나누어 실험에 이용하였다.

For efficient Microcystis elimination, this study examined the elimination effect of loess and coagulants (PAHCS, PACS‐1) according to the occurrence level of Microcystis. In addition, we compared the Microcystis algicidal effect between sulfate and hydroperoxide. The occurrence level of Microcystis was divided based on the concentration of chlorophyll a in the algae alert system (A: >150 ㎍ L^(-1), B: 100~150 ㎍ L^(-1), C: 25~99 ㎍ L^(-1)) and used in the experiment. Furthermore, in order to examine the effect of each treating material on aquatic organisms, we investigated the risk of each material using Oryzias latipes. The experiment used surface water of the Mucheon Reservoir at Jinryang‐eup, Gyeongsan‐si, Gyeongsangbuk‐do. The temperature of the experimental raw water was 25.1∼29.0℃, dissolved oxygen 5.51∼7.57 ㎎ L^(-1), pH 7.64∼8.02, and electric conductivity 324∼ 365 μS ㎝^(‐1). A total of 30 species of phytoplankton were identified, and they were classified into 4 classes, 7 orders, 15 families and 22 genera. The total cell count was 50,000 cells ㎖^(‐1), and the species of the Microcystis genus occupied 96.0%. When aquatic environment factors and the species composition of algae were analyzed, the Mucheon Reservoir was at the stage of eutrophication, and according to the criteria of the algae alert system, it corresponded to the stage of algae alert. When 3.0 g L^(-1) of loess was added, the Microcystis elimination effect of loess ranged between 53.0‐74.6% according to the initial concentration of chlorophyll a, and the elimination effect was lower when the initial concentration of chlorophyll a was high. When 3.0 g L^(-1) of loess was added, pH decreased by up to 0.2, so the change was not significant, but turbidity increased considerably up to 273 NTU. Coagulants PAHCS and PACS‐1 showed an elimination effect of 76.2‐82.6% and 67.8‐76.4%, respectively, at 8.0 Al2O3 ㎎ L^(-1) according to the initial concentration of chlorophyll a, and the elimination effect was higher when the initial concentration of chlorophyll a was high. Compared to PACS‐1, PAHCS showed an elimination effect 5‐29% higher, but with increase in the addition of coagulant, the difference in the elimination rate decreased. The decrease in pH resulting from the addition of coagulant was larger in PAHCS. When both loess and coagulant were used together, the elimination effect reached up to 88.8%, showing a higher elimination effect than when only coagulant was used. The Microcystis algicidal effect of hydroperoxide was 80.3% in 6 days from the addition of 1.0 ㎎ L^(-1), which was higher than 76.1%, the elimination effect of copper sulfate. In addition, hydroperoxide showed a higher elimination effect than copper sulfate in all concentrations. When the harmfulness of each treating material was investigated, harmfulness was lowest in the coagulant among the four materials, and highest in hydroperoxide. The coagulant showed a higher survival rate than the control group until the end of the experiment for all concentrations tested. When 0.4 ㎎ L^(-1) of hydroperoxide was added, all Oryzias latipes died on the 1st day of experiment, and when 0.25 ㎎ L‐1 was added, 50% died on the 8th day and the survival rate at the end of the experiment was the same as the control group. When the elimination effect, harmfulness, and economic efficiency of each treating material were analyzed on the assumption that Microcystis in the Mucheon Reservoir should be reduced by 50%, the addition of 5 ㎎ L^(-1) of PAHCS was found to be the most efficient and safest option.
