The objective of this study was to explore experiences of "Aging in place" in Korea and evaluate the meaning of living and death in one's own home for as long as confidently and comfortably possible. After the study by using the "In-depth interview," experiences and meaning of "Aging in place" in Korea could be summarized as following. First, the meanings of the living space from the relocation experiences of the elderly participants were various: "House inherited from the parents or the ancestors," "Place buried with one's own traces of life," "Place of one's own presence," "Shelter," "Living free-space," "Protected space of one's own family," "Resting place," "Workshop," "Space of emotional life," and "Convenient location." There were some differences in the meanings of the living space depending on current living places, ages, length of residency, one's own house or not, ownership process, and living with the family or not. Second, the concept appeared from the study on "Aging in place" could be classified into four categories: "Experiences and meaning of family in old age," "Experiences and meaning of home or house in old age," "Experiences and meaning of community in old age," and "Surviving in the current living space." Experiences and meaning of family in old age implied "Gratitude and sorrow for the children," "Happiness caused by children and grandchildren," "Burden on one's own family," and "Feeling that one should not be a burden to one's own children. Experiences and meaning of home or house in old age were identified as "Haven of peace of mind," "Fence to protect life," "Space allowed the freedom of life," and "Place with a trace of life." Experiences of community in old age were indicated as "Almost-deadly life," "Official help from the community," "Community without confidence," and "Declining community." However, the meanings of community were considered as "Community such as one's own parents or loving friends," "Village preserving tradition," and "Place buried with him or her even in death." Surviving in the current living space meant "Living alone," "Overcoming loneliness," and "Staying healthily." As a result, this study will be some important contributions as following. First, some differences in the meanings of the living space from the relocation experiences of the elderly participants, depending on current living places, ages, length of residency, one's own house or not, ownership process, and living with the family or not, can be understood as implications for the diversity of living space for the elderly. It means that social and political interests of the policy of "Aging in place" for the elderly will be able to increase, if we focus on this diversity. Second, experiences and meaning of family in old age can be figured out as following. Elderly people have the both of feelings, gratitude and sorrow, for the children. But they do not represent their feelings well in Korea. They want to take care of their children and grandchildren, but don't like to be a burden to their family. It means that the relationship between younger generation and older generation in their family will be better, if we consider these feelings and experiences. Third, the study on experiences and meaning of home or house in old age can give us information concerning what elderly people feel in their current living places. It means that specialists of "Aging in place" in Korea can have room for expansion of their work, based on social network and social support, if we learn from information on what elderly people feel in their current living place. Fourth, according to the study on experiences and meaning of community in old age, elderly people consider their community not only "as their parents or loving friends in living" but also "as place buried with them even in death." It means that elderly people can get rid of the anxiety about their death and funeral, if we listen to them and enshrine them in their own community. In the meanwhile, there are some limits to generalizing of this study because it was contrived by using purposeful sampling.
