A Study for the Necessity of Lesson Plans in Private Education Institutions : Primarily Performed on 2nd and 3rd Graders원문보기

One of the ultimate purposes of music education in public schools is to bring up students to be well rounded individuals through the process of developing
musicality, bountiful artistic sensitivity, and creativity. Although music education
in public schools aims to develop well rounded individuals, it's being pushed out
and reduced in the real fields of teaching for the sake of main subjects, such as Korean, Mathematics, or English. Along with this, music education is focused on tests and evaluations, not on the achievement of the purpose of planting nice and balanced character.
Considering this circumstance, private schools are needed to make up for what the public schools lack in music education and increase the quality of music education.
I myself, as a music educator, spent decades in private academy making efforts to improve this problem. Therefore, based on my teaching experiences, I planned and experimented the lesson plans to encourage students' self-derived participation contrary to teacher-oriented learning method.
Along the way of this study, various activities for students required the philosophy of Cari Orff and Edwin Gordon, which became the theoretical ground for the lesson plans. These are mainly involved with lots of games and physical activities, including playing many musical instruments and learning music theories, both of which are considered hard to learn and avoided by students.
Eventually, the activities from the lesson plans resulted in voluntary participation of the students even with no interest in music at all. This 10-stage
plans brought change and growth to students.
After all, this lead my study to be continued in full scale to satisfy the need to ex[;pre the lesson plans for private music schools with more deep and organized perspective.
