This study was performed to see the relation between urban heat island and forest, and its economic value. First of all, regression analysis analyzed two models of power consumption and climate change. Power consumption model is to look for the role of forest to ease urban heat island, while climate change model is to look for the role of forest in econometric way to loosen urban heat island in metropolitan area. Economic value was estimated through labor expenses by the analysis result of power consumption model, while other economic value was done by CVM and CE. First of all in the relation of forest and urban heat island, we can see that both models explain urban forest in daily reach and urban heat island are associated with each other; especially 1㎡ increase of urban forest per head reduces 0.02㎿h of average power consumption in the nation, and lowers 1.15℃ of peak temperature in summer in metropolitan area. To evaluate economic value of power consumption model through labor expenses, average sales price of power was calculated, the figure of urban forest area per head was multiplied there, and then total population of Korea was multiplied there again, which was concluded in 34.5 billion won. For CVM, interview in Double Bounded Dichotomous Choice Contingent Valuation Method was performed, with the target of adult male and female in special and metropolitan cities where is seen overpopulated in overcrowded building, which are the factor of urban heat island. The questionnaires were done twice from mid to the end of September, of which 1st period was from Sep. 14 to 20 in 2010. The 2nd questionnaire to supplement the defect of the 1st was done from Sep. 24 to 28. Total answer sheets of both questionnaires were 448 copies, of which 447 were used to analyze the result except for the one seeming to refuse answering. The economic value of the forest to ease urban heat island through the collected data was estimated to reach about 3,614.1 billion won. Finally for CE, attribute and level were set by the analyzed result of climate change model; 4 attributes were determined and 3 of which were used for the questionnaire respectively. Targets for the questionnaire were main consumers in 7 special and metropolitan cities which were the same as those of CVM; questionnaire sheet was divided into A and B types. As a result of analyzing collected data, the economic value of urban forest of easing urban heat island was estimated to reach 1,269 billion won.
