The purpose of this thesis is to look upon the Kingdom of God in the Bible, to probe the meaning of the Kingdom of God through the annotation of the text, to discover how this subject is used in the Gospel of Mark, and to find out the character of this subject and author's theological intention. Firstly, the Kingdom of God in the Gospel of Mark is the subject that Jesus proclaims. The author of it consistently uses the term of the Kingdom of God when he states the Kingdom of God. This term is used 14 times in the Gospel of Mark which means God's sovereign rule and is used as a specific title when Mark explains the Kingdom of God. Also, he handles the Kingdom of God as both a subject of Jesus' Gospel proclamation and a main subject of Jesus' ministry. People of those days expected that the Messiah would remove the Roman Empire and establish the Kingdom of God. With the beginning of his public life, Jesus proclaims the Kingdom of God that has begun with him and is made currently in the history. Also, the Gospel of Mark regards the Kingdom of God as the continuity with the Old Testament. Mark doesn't reject the Old Testament but clarifies that the Kingdom of God is in the continuity with it which people who love God and their neighbors can get close and enter. Secondly, there are covering and openness in the Kingdom of God in the Gospel of Mark. These covering and openness can be studied as follows. First, in the parable of the sower, if he can produce a crop or not depends on the condition of the soil. Seeds sown in good soil are hidden under the ground and farmers don't know if they grow. However, when harvest has come, they come up, grow and produce a crop, multiplying thirty, sixty or even a hundred times. This is what the Kingdom of God is like. The disciples and the Jews didn't understand this. Under the influence of apocalyptic literature, the Jews of those days thought the Kingdom of God would be realized afterlife, not in their world. Therefore, they didn't think the Kingdom of God was hidden and ten could be realized at that time. However, the Kingdom of God was open and known to the disciples. Second, in the parable of the growing seed, although the seeds sown on the ground cannot be shown and people don't know how, by itself it grows and bears beautiful fruits. This is what the Kingdom of God is like. Even if it is hidden or small, the Kingdom of God will necessarily appear to everyone and be fulfilled completely. Third, in the parable of the mustard seed, despite its small size the seed grows and becomes the large plants, with such big branched that the birds can perch. Though it is too small and trivial for people to notice, the Kingdom of God will grow so huge that all the people know and realize it and be open to all the people. Thirdly, the Kingdom of God in the Gospel of Mark is where the impending end manifests. Mark considered the Kingdom of God so impending that the disciples could see that Jesus came with authority before his death. This kingdom is what has already come to the earth with Jesus and is being realized now. Also, Jesus in the Lord's supper swears that he won't drink again of the fruit of the vine until that day when he drinks it anew in the Kingdom of God. This vow shows how he thinks his calling sincere. The Kingdom of God means the reals where people live forever in the spiritual body after death and what Jesus drinks anew in that kingdom doesn't mean something new by the time but something new by the quality. Jesus describes in his mind the time of restoration of Jerusalem when God's covenants are fulfilled completely. That time of restoration appears now through Jesus and is being made currently. Mark also states the Kingdom of God through the belief of Joseph of Arimatea. He waited for the Kingdom of God and didn't show his belief although he firmly believed in the advent of God's Kingdom. He could bury Jesus body in the way of Jews since he was the person who waited for the Kingdom of God although it was difficult to bury Jesus who was crucified. Therefore, Mark believed the burial of Jesus was to fulfill the Kingdom of God and the death of Jesus completes the Kingdom of God which is impending. Lastly, the Kingdom of God in the Gospel of Mark overthrows the value of the kingdom of the world. First, the value of the kingdom of the world is overthrown by the Kingdom of God that belongs to the weak. It belongs to the high, the strong and the influential while not to the low, the weak and the uninfluential. However, Mark says whoever knocks down the low can't enter the Kingdom of God and whoever thinks them valuable can enter it. Jesus also considered the low noble rather than the high, and overthrew and renewed the value of the kingdom of the world through the low. Second, the value of the kingdom of the world is overthrown by the Kingdom of God that anyone like a little child will enter. It was believed in the kingdom of the world that those who are powerful, rich and influential entered it. However, Mark says that those who are weak, poor and uninfluential like little children will enter it. Eventually, people like little children makes it possible to overthrow the kingdom of the world by entering God's Kingdom. Third, the value of the kingdom of the world is overthrown by the Kingdom of God that the poor enters. Generally, the Jews regarded to the wealth as the blessings for the full obedience to God while the poverty as the curse for the disobedience(Dt 28:1-14). Therefore, it was believed that the rich could enter the Kingdom of God. However, Jesus said, "It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the Kingdom of God." and considered the excessive wealth as an obstacle to enter it. Rather, the majority of the poor enter it. These words of Jesus in the gospel of Mark overthrew the value of the kingdom of the world and the though that the Jews and people had at that time. Therefore, the Kingdo
