This study was determined to elucidate the effect of different temperature condition on seedling growth characteristics under sweet pepper plug production. Sweet pepper seedlings were placed in a controlled environment cabinet 15℃, 23℃, 31℃ for 4 weeks and these seedling growth parameters were measured. Also these seedlings were transferred and grown greenhouse for 4 weeks and early growth stage of these seedlings were investigated after transplanting. 1. Effect of temperature condition on seedling growth characteristics of sweet pepper Sweet pepper growth difference was clearly shown by different temperature treatments and plant height of sweet pepper seedlings was greatest at 23℃ (34.8cm) followed by 31℃ (28.5cm) and shortest at 15℃ (15.2cm). Leaf mid length, leaf number, stem diameter, fresh weight and dry weight of the sweet pepper seedlings were greatest at 23℃ followed by 31℃ and 15℃. Early growth stage for the first 2 weeks at 31℃ was significantly higher than those of 15℃ and 23℃ treated plants, and three week after treatment, plant height of the sweet pepper was greatest at 23℃. 2. Effect of temperature condition on growth characteristics of sweet pepper after planting Before seedlings were treated with temperature in a controlled environment cabinet, plant height at week 4 after planting did not recover, and plant height was the highest growing temperature at 23℃. There were significant difference between treatment effects. The growth speed was fast at 23℃ compared to the other temperatures. There were no differences of absorbed amounts of inorganic nutrients except nitrogen. The first flower was quickly bloomed at 23℃ compared to 31℃ and 15℃. According to this research, the optimum temperature at seedling plug production of sweet pepper is approximately 23℃ for increasing the growth and productivity.
