During the last two decades, the number of foreigners in Korea has increased by almost 15 times, reaching 982,461 in 2011. Alongside with the dramatic increase in their number, they have tendancy to live close to their ethnic group members, forming residential concentrations in the cities. This research aims at clearifying the processes for the development of ethnic residential concentrations in today's Korean cities. A case study is conducted with Chineses in Daelim-dong at Seoul. Chineses occupies the largest proportion among foreigners and Daelim-dong more recently grows to be one of their residential concentrations. The researcher did survey and interviews to investigate their migration processes and everyday lifestyle such as residing, laboring, leisure, education, feeding/clothing, community acitivities, and transportation. The results are as follows: Firstly, the Chinese residential concentration in Daelim-Dong formed around 2005. Since then, the chain migration makes it grow in size by recruiting new immigrants who come to learn the Korean language and to obtain job opportunities. Essentially, it is ethnic affinity that helps the concentration to maintain and develop. Secondly, it found that the concentration provides a variety of services that is convenient for Chinese immigrants' everyday life. The ethnic services are another factors that allow Daelim-Dong to maintain and develop. Thirdly, there are slight difference between Korean-Chineses and Chinese in migration, laboring, and community activities. Fourly, the Daelim-Dong Chinese concnetrations play a role as a node for the transnational linkage between China and Korea.
