TV format business has been gaining international prosperity in recent years thanks to the globalization as well as global economic recession. Some famous international TV formats have been introduced to Korean audience, such as , , and more recently , and , however, local reality formats seem to be more popular, since most of terrestrial TV channels are busy with programming these shows. It is not easy to define this new 'korean reality TV shows', some call them as reality entertainment shows or reality variety shows. They are in the same vein with other typical korean entertainment programms since these all like to cast no one but celebrities. However, these formats are different from previous korean entertainment shows because these celebrities have to act allegedly without fixed scripts. In this sense, these are non-scripted reality show without severe survival competition, as many foreign reality TV shows about. Korean reality TV shows prefer heavily depending on the casting characters and each of casting members is already established figure from representation through mass media. This distinctive characteristic of Korean reality TV shows attracts the attention of this study.
The concept of parasocial interaction is cautiously adapted to the study in due to its explanative power between audience and casting characters, here, celebrities. Demographic variables are shown as important since younger generation experience more active parasocial interaction meanwhile, female audience experience more affective parasocial interaction. All three parasocial interactive factors(cognitive, affective and behavioural) are positively affect to the 'flow' experience of korean reality tv shows and more importantly both of parasocial interaction as well as flow experience are powerful variables to explain audience satisfaction.
Some comparative audience studies between korean reality Tv shows and imported reality formats would be recommend to show the difference and the characteristics of programms for further studies.
