This purpose of this study is to make a comparative analysis of what oral heritages, proverbs are repeatedly used to be handed down by word of mouth to this day in any language environments, the proverbs-used context through the proverbs used in the brief comment column of Kyunghyang Shinmun and the 『Annals of the Joseon Dynasty』, and the change of them and the relationship between them. The proverbs, which are closely related to our language life, are distributed in the public. The new proverbs are created and extinguished by the changes of the times. It's worth understanding the shape of use and the meaning of expression through the connections with the direct use of proverbs. For this study, the research objects were the proverbs, which were repeatedly used more than 2 times in the column of Kyunghyang Shinmun and the 『Annals of the Joseon Dynasty』. To observe the using environment between the proverbs and analyze the relationship, the text used proverbs in the column was classified into the use time of proverbs, and the context of politics, economy, society, culture, internationality and sports. The text used proverbs in the 『Annals of the Joseon Dynasty』 was classified into the use time of proverbs, and the context of politics, economy, society and culture. The results of this study so far found that one proverb in the column was used in the same context, or various contexts. In other words, the proverbs used in the social context included 「No one can prevent a thief」, 「Necessity knows no law」, 「He that will steal a pin will steal an ox」, 「A spaniel, a woman, and a walnut tree, the more they're beaten the better they'll be」, 「Trust is the mother of deceit」, 「To lock the stable door after the horse is stolen」, and 「People are very getting hard-hearted」. These proverbs had the vocabularies of negative meaning such as ‘theft’, ‘stealing’, ‘beaten’ and ‘stabbed’, which were used in the context of major incidents related to crimes. The various proverbs in the context of politics were used in connection with politicians' attitude and corruption, political party, and government policy. The proverbs such as 「Nice words for nice words」, 「A soft answer turns away wrath」, 「The fish always stinks from the head downwards」, 「One bad apple spoils the barrel」 and 「Once a user forever a custom」 were used in connection with politicians' language and behavior. The proverbs such as 「Blood is thicker than water」 and 「A person who muscles in ruins the whole」 were used to reflect the group consciousness among ourselves and same parties. The various proverbs in the international context were used in connection with Japan. The proverbs such as 「It's like casting pearls before swine」, 「What is learned in the cradle is carried to the tomb」, 「A fool can never throw away his bad habits」 and 「One man sows and another man reaps」 were used to compare Japanese behaviors. The various proverbs in the economic context were used in connection with finance, real estate, and company. While the proverbs such as 「Be crazy about freebies」, 「Buy anything on credit」, 「It is the tail wagging the dog」 and 「The blind eats his chicken」 were used to compare credit card, foreign loan, tax and interest rate, the proverb of 「Seoul is as scary as crawly from Gwacheon」 was used to compare real estate due to the place name of Gwacheon. And the proverbs such as 「Buy cheap and waste your money」 and 「Narrow gathered, widely spent」 were used to compare product production and business ethics in companies. The proverbs in the cultural context were used in connection with custom, religion and art. While the proverbs such as 「Always hope the same harvest festival, more or less」, 「Beat somebody violently」 and 「The lesser cold freezes to death in the house of the greater cold」 were used to compare Chuseok, Jungbok, the period of greater cold and the period of lesser cold, the proverbs such as 「He's only in it for personal gain」 and 「If a Buddist monk tastes meat, he preys on bedbugs in a temple」 were used in connection with Buddhism. The proverbs in the sportive context were used in connection with athlete's mental strength, game, and sports festival. While the proverbs such as 「Recover consciousness for survival despite being bitten by the tiger」, 「Do never underestimate the little man」 and 「Glory is the fair child of peril」 were used to compare athletes' strong mental strength, the proverbs such as 「The sparrow never just pass a mill」, 「Be crazy about freebies」 and 「It is the tail wagging the dog」 were used to compare sports officials and spectators besides sports players. One proverb in the various contexts was 「Recover consciousness for survival despite being bitten by the tiger」, which was used in all fields such as the rapidly changing international situation, many problems in politics and society, environment and sports. For this proverb, the public's consciousness on survival in competitive society was reflected as a proverb. The proverb of 「Blood is thicker than water」 was used in the context of strong group consciousness, called ‘us’ including our country, politicians' same party, and our team. One of the proverbs in the 『Annals of the Joseon Dynasty』 was mainly used in the political context due to the nature of the 『Annals of the Joseon Dynasty』. The proverb of 「No public opinion in Goryeo Court lasts more than three days」 meant that Goryeo policies and spirits were often changed, but it turned into “No public opinion in Joseon Court lasts more than three days” to be used in connection with Joseon politics. And it was also used as the meaning that at first our people are good at work, but often changed. While the proverb of 「The dish is too precious for us to beat a rat」 was used in connection with royal family-class culture and Joseon foreign policies, the proverb of 「No one can prevent a thief」 was used to compare thief, criminal and barbarian. The common proverbs in the 『Annals of the Joseon Dynasty』 and the column by the changes of the times were used by the substitution of words, phrases and vocabularies for the basic form of proverb, the addition of words, phrases and paragraph to the basic form of proverb, the inversion of proverb order, and the abbreviation for one part of proverb. The meaning was also reduced, maintained, and expanded by the used proverbs.
