The purpose of this study was to examine the influence of entrance examination-preparing physical education students’ participation in plyometric training upon their quickness and agility, find out an effective exercise time for the performance tests of physical education colleges, and then provide students with well-planned data on the preparation of entrance examination. For this, 60 students who were trained in an entrance examination preparation agency for physical education students in S City were sampled as study subjects. And the difference of quickness and agility was comparatively examined among three groups of students (1) who simultaneously carried out plyometric training for 30 minutes on 3 days of the week (Monday, Wednesday and Friday) for 6 weeks together with entrance examination exercises; (2) who simultaneously and intensively carried out plyometric training for 90 minutes on 1 day of the week (Saturday) together with entrance examination exercises; and (3) who only carried out entrance examination exercises. The duration and frequency of training are as follows: They carried out 10 minutes warming-up and 20 minutes cooling down and the time for warming-up was excluded from the time for the plyometric training program. A periodic exercise group carried out 30 minutes plyometric training program and 30 minutes entrance examination exercises, 3 times a week (Monday, Wednesday and Friday); whereas an intensive exercise group carried out 90 minutes plyometric training program and 90 minutes entrance examination exercises, once a week. A control group only carried out 30 minutes entrance examination exercises, 3 times a week (Monday, Wednesday and Friday) and in the rest of time, they carried out stretching. As for the degree of exercise, a plyometric training group carried out 30 minutes entrance examination exercises and then carried out the plyometric training. For the first 3 weeks, 3 sets of exercise were carried out 12 times, whereas for the last 3 weeks, 4 sets of exercise were carried out 15 times. Based on the plyometric training, standing long jump and sargent jump were tested for quickness, whereas sidestep and zigzag running were examined for agility. Study findings are as follows: First, in case of male students, the combined group of plyometric training and entrance examination exercises (for 30 minutes, 3 times a week) presented better results in all kinds of exercises than the group of entrance examination exercises. Second, in case of male students, the combined group of intensive plyometric training and entrance examination exercises (for 90 minutes, once a week) presented better results in all kinds of exercises than the group of entrance examination exercises. Third, in case of male students, the combined group of plyometric training and entrance examination exercises (for 30 minutes, 3 times a week) presented better results in standing long jump than the combined group of intensive plyometric training and entrance examination exercises (for 90 minutes, once a week), but the difference was not significant. Based on study findings, the plyometric training improved the quickness and agility of entrance examination-preparing students who wanted to enter the college of physical education. However, there was no significant difference between a periodic group and an intensive group. This finding seems to provide basic data to entrance examination-preparing students who want to enter the college of physical education in their choosing a planned time of exercise that is most appropriate for them. However, since preparing in a short period of time has a risk of student’s exposure to wound, trainers must put every effort in adjusting the degree of exercises.
