The objective of this study was to observe the variation of paper properties available for optimizing the printability by the variation of the printing methods, and suggest the optimized manufacturing method of paper.
For this the mixture ratio of materials with Variable the surface strength, Compressibility, porous and the impact of red algae pulp on the printability were investigated. Also, it suggested the manufacturing method of printing paper with proper compressiblity by illustrating the effect of ink transfer ratio and paper compressiblity on the pressure of paper, which induces paper porous changes by reviewing picking occurrences in compliance with the variation of surface strength and ink viscosity in the offset printing the experiment samples were prepared Soft Wood Bleached Kraft Pulp(Sw BKP) and Hard Wood Bleached Sulfite Pulp(Hw BSP) and inorganic dyestuft paint, combined in same condition with normal ink to measure the transfer rate and permeableness and lastly the red algae pulp, completely churned up and melted into 40 degree heated water for usage.
the experiment design came up with followed steps; the beating produced some samples with freeness, which operated each pulp in Valley beater. And to form a paper with 70g/m² in weight by material formulation and Red Algae addition a round sheet machine was utilized. and then the printability, picking resistivity and both volume and percent of ink transfer was estimated on the paper in offset printing. Lastly to set Variable Intaglio impression pressure, the volume and the percent of ink transfer was measured by IGT Tester.
On the sidelines, this simulation was tested at 1,960kpa
impression pressure for a intaglio printing or at 980kpa for a
offset printing, by applying TAPPI wax process for surface
strength, Gurley dennsometer of TAPPI T460 for the porous, Z - directional tensile Tester of TAPPI T541 for internal bonding strength in the paper.
The results of this study were summarized as followed.
(1) In the impression pressure among physical properties in terms of RAP Processing, the synergistic effect was stronger on Hard Wood Pulp than Soft Wood pulp, in the porous the synergistic effect was stronger on Soft Wood pulp than Hard Wood Pulp at the first stage of beating, in the surface strength the rise was bigger on the Soft Wood pulp, to the contrary, in the internal bonding strength showed bigger on th rise on Hard Wood Pulp than Soft Wood pulp.
(2)In the impression pressure among physical properties in terms of the mixed preparing paper by pulp the highest was at 980kpa softbacking methods for Soft pulp 40 ~ 60% mixed preparing paper and at 1,960kpa hardbacking methods for more than 80%, also the porous and the surface increased as the decrease of the percent of mixture of Soft Wood Pulp, however, the internal bond strength increased as the increase of the percent of mixture of Soft Wood Pulp.
(3) The paper properties affected printability in the intaglio
printing processing, ink transfer rate was increased as the
addition of RAP, especially with more than 30 % increase in the case of Hard Wood Pulp mixed preparing paper. the ink transfer rate according to the variation of impression pressure turned out the highest record on Mixed preparing paper of the Soft Wood Pulp with 10% of RAP, on the other hand, in the internal bond strength turned out the lowest record.
(4) The paper properties affected printability in the offset
printing processing, ink transfer rate showed highest for the mixed of 40% Soft Wood Pulp and increased as the decrease of viscosity of Ink. the porous decreased because of the mixture of RAP while the picking resistance increased as the increase of the density of the RAP mixture. the picking resistance on the variations of the inkviscosity and the impression pressure had increased by the 15% of RAP.
This result of this study, carried out to suggest a manufacturing method of paper to optimize the printability on the variation of the printing methods by the variable experiments on the properties of paper, is henceforth expected to apply various fields on the manufacturing printing paper.
