Bouldering is one of competitive game of sport climbing(Lead, Speed, Bouldering) which is composed of four or five short routes called problems. This study aimed to examine the response of heart rate and blood variable related to fatigue according to various recovery methods interventions during a simulated bouldering game. The total quantity of the motion was homogenized with real bouldering competition. For this study, the research compared and analyzed the differential effects of four types of recovery methods which assigned to nine elite male climbers. They ware observed for 5 minute between each bouldering problems to collect the date on four recovery methods: active recovery(AR, lateral raise and wrist extension, 30% of 1RM), cryotherapy(CT, shoulders and forearms, 15℃), thermotherapy(TT, shoulders and forearms, 40℃) and passive recovery(PR). Each recovery method was proceeded separately by 1 week by the counter-balanced order. After the experimental treatments, heart rate and lactate acid were observed at rest condition and pre and post each problems and creatine phosphokinase(CPK), lactic dehydrogenase(LDH), hand-grip strength, and pull-up were measured at pre and post bouldering games. The results of this study can be summarized as follows: The peak heart rate was 158±8bpm and the peak lactate acid was 5.35±1.51mmol/ℓ. Accumulated heart rate during simulated bouldering game was significantly lower in CT and TT group than PR and AR group(P<0.05). Accumulated lactate acid during simulated bouldering game was significantly lower in AR, CT and TT group than PR group(P<0.05). However, there were no significant differences in CPK, LDH, hand-grip strength and pull-up between pre and post bouldering game on four recovery methods. Based on the above results, this study indicates that AR, CT and TT are more effective recovery methods of heart rate and blood variable related to fatigue than PR for male athletes during a simulated bouldering game.
