The eco problem is becoming key problem. Because that is faced with new challenge which is combination basic philosophy of automobile, especially representing efficiency, with newly rising eco problem. Brake energy regeneration, electric power steering, electric supercharger and automatic start-stop function, etc. have been applied to optimize the efficiency with advanced engine technology. Among them, electronic water pump automatically runs engine cooling function regardless of engine speed and thus, reduces fuel consumption. Therefore technical development has been being performed to design for high efficiency, high durability, lower noise and low price product. In this study, the design method to maximize efficiency of electronic water pump was proposed and the verification of design method through the test was described. The design method based on flow analysis model and loss model has the merit that it is easy and quick to identify the effect. But this method predicts different results according to flow analysis model, loss model and combination of each model. Design of centrifugal pump is fulfilled through optimal process of geometric parameters which affect the input parameters such as flow, water head, RPM of motor. The range and initial value of each design parameter have to be assigned and the process to find optimal value through performance analysis based on initial value should be repeated. In general, there is a little difference between numerical analysis result and actual test result. This results from uncertain factors such as roughness of sample surface, friction of operation part etc. of numerical analysis model. Thus, the verification of the design value by numerical analysis can be fulfilled by making samples and tests. In this research, the optimal design values about motor, impeller and case of electronic water pump for 300W through the numerical analysis were obtained. Also, comparing the design method by numerical analysis with the test results, whether this design method could be utilized was examined.
