Correspondingly, China's traditional costumes of the multiple ethnic minorities are also getting more attention in the modern stage. In this thesis, traditional costumes of Tibetan, which is one of China's ethnic minorities, is the research topics. This study, based on the Tibetan social and cultural background, especially on the viewing of the basic structure and characteristics of Tibetan costumes, focuses on flexible using of the Tibetan costumes, to show the performance of the three costume-clothes works. Prevalence and characteristics of Tibetan costume with its cultural background are as follows: First of all, Tibetan culture, with composition of the geographic nomadic and farming region, deeply reflects Tibetan costumes. For the reason of temperature at the place, which changes differently from other ethnic groups, materials such as fur, silk and other similar kinds are widely used. Changing patterns of the costumes also reflects nature worship here. Secondly, Tibetan religion and culture is mainly reflected in the material and shape of the monks’ clothing. Using of five colours, white, blue, red, yellow, green and black, have a great effect on Tibetan religion, and "asymmetric" is the significantly reflect on the shape of the garment. Thirdly, white is colour which can reflect the characteristics of Tibetan art and culture best. Various colors with distinguish arrangement always can show a strong and distinctive visual contrast. Basic Tibetan costumes which are consistent with clothing robe, shirt, waist coat, help code, belts and jewelry, are mainly distributed in the Guardian Tibet, Kham, Amdo regions. These different regions with different natural environment set up a variety of costumes. Characteristic morphology of Tibetan costumes are also manifested. Wearing apparels with the new, special and practical shape create a peculiar way of visual effects. Patterns of using contrasting colors, symbolic, religious and some other aspects give a profound impact on the formation of the unique Tibetan clothing. Meanwhile, with the Significant feature that apparel features due to natural and geographical conditions, cultural material combination, and exaggerated jewelry to wear, Tibetan costumes are getting even more diversity and unique cultures. With the results of the study, three works that conclude characteristics of Tibetan women dresses have been completed. The first work is a jacket, with the design of Tibetan representative asymmetric oblique collar structure, using silk and satin as its raw material. It works in black for the background, with red, yellow and green as the secondary color. The collar uses five-colour-parties. Overall, the work is simple but has a strong color impact. The second work inspired by Tibetan Khampa, using silk and satin as the material. Its main colour is Tibetan religious black, Khampa uses five-colour-parties such as red, yellow, blue etc., waist and bottom part use slash red color, forming a modern and strong color contrast. The third work is a white dress made of polyester fibers, with a five-colour-parties belts, showing women's noble and sexy. One side of the shoulder is made by Tibetan colors stitching, and the front of the dress is stitched with Tibetan Phulu. This research,which is based on the grasp of Tibetan culture and Tibetan clothing features, combined with traditional Tibetan clothing design and modern clothing design concept, has the diversity and visual impact.
