The effects of hexamethylene diisocyanate trimer content (0, 3, 6, 9%) on the physical properties of commercially available polyurethane resin (D-ACE 7094, D-ACE 9051 hard series, and D-ACE 6251, D-ACE 6255, D-ACE 610, D-ACE 650PY soft series, Dongsung Chemicals) have been studied in terms of 100% modulus, tensile strength, elongation at break, and Bally flex. In addition, the variation of properties with the curing time has been followed for a particular resin. Samples were prepared by the precipitation method while the tests were done according to the corresponding ASTM and NIKE specifications. For soft polyurethane resin, HMDI hardened the resin due to the crossing effect. For example, tensile strength increased over 26 times for 6251 reaching 3.964kg/ cm2 at 6%. For hard resin, viz. 7094 bally flex, tensile strength, 100% modulus increased while the elongation was not influenced with 5% HMDI.
