In this paper, we proposed a method for reducing the reflected wave of the aluminum plate. In the monostatic radar system, the receiver catches the reflected wave and one can obtain the information of the target from this wave. In order not to be detected by the radar system, we need to reduce the reflected wave. The reflected wave consists of magnitude and phase. Because of that, if we generate a wave which has the same magnitude and reverse phase of the reflected wave, then we can cancel out the reflected wave by adding the generated wave to the reflected one. To generate the cancellation wave, we proposed a method using the active cancellation circuit. This circuit is composed of a VGA (Variable Gain Amplifier), a LNA (Low Noise Amplifier) and two phase shifters. When the external RF signal is incident on the aluminum plate, the probe which is positioned on the aluminum plate receives the RF signal. And then the active cancellation circuit which is connected to the probe amplifies that signal and shifts the phase of signal for destructive interference. In addition, we used a dual-polarized probe in order to reduce the reflected wave even if the incident electromagnetic wave has random polarization. Prior to the experiments, we performed some simulations using FDTD (Finite Difference Time Domain) simulator and calculated the required gain and phase using MATLAB program. So, we confirmed that the reflected wave can be reduced for random polarization. And then we performed experiments to verify the performance of the proposed active cancellation circuit. In the same way, we also verified for the curved aluminum plate. As an experimental result, the reflected wave for each aluminum plate was reduced about 20 dB.
