An effect of physical activity through the listen to music on resolving the stress and fostering the emotional intelligence원문보기
(Korea Preschool Daily ...

The object of this study was to identify an effect of physical activity through the listen to music on resolving the stress and fostering the emotional intelligence. For this purpose it had set the following research questions; 1. How do physical activity through the listen to music affect resolving daily stress of young children? 2. What kind of effect does physical activity through the listen to music have on the improvement of emotional intelligence of young children? This research was done with 34 5-year-old children going to S and O kindergarten located in Gumcheongu, Seoul. 17 5-year-old young children in S kindergarten were grouped as experimental group and 17 5-year-old young children were designated as control group. The similarity between the two groups were identified through pre test. 16 lessons of physical activity through the listen to the music was done to the experimental group and for control group background music for appreciation was played during free activity time which was scheduled at the same time with lessens of experimental group. The test was done for total 16 times, 3 times a week for total 5 weeks from 1st of October to 4th of November, 2014. For testing daily stress of young children Korea Preschool Daily Stress Scale (KPDSS) developed by Hyun Gyung Yeum(1998) was used. In terms of test tool for emotional intelligence of young children assessment scale of emotional intelligence of young children for teachers’ which was identified as valid by Kyeong Hoe Kim(1998) based on the literature of Goleman(1995), Mayer and Salovey(1997) was applied. For the processing of research data of experimental and control groups SPSS 21.0 program was used and t-test was done and analyzed to verify difference between the groups. Below was the conclusion of this research. First, experimental group which had done physical activity through the listen to music showed significant decrease of stress in 3 sub-factors of daily stress, critic and aggressive circumstance, experience of anxiety and depression, and loss of self-esteem. Therefore, it could be said that physical activity through the listen to music was effective for relieving daily stress of young children. This conclusion implies that young children removes their daily stress while subjectively enjoying the body expressing activities along with different types of music. Second, physical activity through the listen to music increased 6 sub-factors of emotional intelligence in young children which were self-emotion perception and expression, emotion and impulse control, use of self-emotion, recognition and consideration of other’s emotion, and relationship with teacher. However, it was turned out that it was not effective for improving peer relationship. That is, according to the test result, it did not have any positive effect on improvement of peer relationship but still, physical activity through listen to the music in early childhood had influence on helping them perceive and control emotion of others and self as well as using their emotion when forming a smooth relationship with others. To conclude, it was found out that physical activity through listen to the music was effective for resolving daily stress and improving emotional intelligence of young children. Therefore, this research was meaningful in the perspective that it provided fundamental data for designing and operating physical activity through the listen to music programs in educational organizations for young children.
