The aim of this research is to compare the characteristics of the parts of speech between Korean Language and Cambodian Language in order to help Cambodian Students who are learning Korean easier to analyze and understanding the meaning of Korean Language parts of speech more efficiently. By comparing the characteristics of the two language part of speech, we can obtain results as below. We first look to the summary results of the feature between two language parts of speech systems. Base on the classification of the part of speech, there are three major parts such as form, function, and the meaning in Korean and Cambodian language. Part of speech by form in Korean Language divided into two parts such as variable and invariable words, in Cambodian there has only invariable words. Both Languages have divided its Parts of Speech by function into five groups such as nominal, verbal, adverbial, phrasal interjection, and relator. It has a little bit different between Korean and Cambodian Language Parts of Speech by meaning. Below is the result which gets from the analyzing base on part of speech the meaning category. Firstly, I have examined noun, pronoun, and numeral which are relevant to nominal group. Both Korean and Cambodian noun are not marked by gender and number. Number can be inferred from context through the use of pluralizer. When Korean noun combined with postpositional, its function can be used as various kinds of the sentence components. Cambodian there is no postpositional, but it can be also used as various as Korean does. There is dependent noun in Korean, while Cambodian does not have. There is classifier in Cambodian, which is equivalent to Korean units of dependent nouns. Both languages have pronouns. We can know that an interrogative and indefinite pronoun has same form when it is using. Cambodian has a relative pronoun. This pronoun is equivalent to Korean Modifier ending form. Secondly, I have examined verb and adjective which are relevant to verbal group. There are verbs in Korean and Cambodian. Both language verbs have the same predicate function. Korean verbs can be inflected, while Cambodian verbs cannot be inflected. There are regular and irregular verbs in Korean, but it does not have in Cambodian. Tense and aspect can be used depends on the changing of its form in Korean. Lastly, both languages have adjective, whhich have the same function as predicate and verbal in sentence. The difference point is Korean adjective is an inflected word, and can be changed into many form, while Cambodian adjective is not inflected but it can also be used in a various form. Thirdly, I have examined pronoun and adverb which are relevant to adverbial group. A prenoun was acknowledging in Korean as one of the independent parts of speech, while Cambodian point it as the same as some types of the Adjective. Both adverbs have the same function as the modifier. The difference is, there is a negative adverb in Korean, but it was acknowledging as a negator in Cambodian. And, there is sentence adverb in Korean while in Cambodian there is no kind of this category. Fourthly, I have examined interjection which is relevant to phrasal interjection. The interjection was acknowledging as one of the independent parts of speech in Korean and Cambodian. There is no big difference between definitions of interjection, but in classification Cambodian has not diversified as much as Korean has. Finally, I have examined postposition which is relevant to relator function. There is the postposition in Korean but it does not have in Cambodian. Even there is no postposition in Cambodian but some types of Cambodian’s parts of speech have the same function to Korean’s postposition such as prepositions, conjunctions, etc.
