Backgrounds and Objective of the Study: What determines the obesity is divided into genetic and environmental factors. Among them, obesity in adolescents includes various causes such as inappropriate eating habit, lack of physical exercise, psychological elements, socio-economic factors, genetic factors, and endocrine system. Obesity of adolescents in Korea is not related to independent factors but seems to be represented with a particular type of correlation or pattern. Hereupon, this study is intended to analyze correlation of obesity including sleeping time, sedentary time, and physical activity time that occupy the most during 24 hours a day in adolescents in Korea according to the 10th Online Survey of Children Health Behavior (Korea Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, 2014) providing preliminary data in making an attempt to put forth a multilateral effort for effectively improving such health-related behavioral factors in the future. Subjects and Methods of the Study: Subjects in this study were 72,060 of the middle/high school students participating in the online survey of children health behaviors conducted in 2014. Among them, total 58,794 of the participants were selected for final subjects after excluding those not filling their height or weight information, sleeping time-related questions, sedentary-time questions, and physical activities-related questions. Obesity was calculated by dividing the weight (kg) by square of height (㎡). Subjects were classified to be obese if BMI (body mass index) exceeded 25kg/㎡ according to criteria of Obesity Academic Society. Average sleeping time was calculated by dividing the weekly sleeping time by five classifying it into four groups. Sedentary time was calculated by the one during weekdays and weekends by aggregating the sedentary times for the purpose of learning and those for the objectives other than learning analyzing them by classifying times into five groups. Physical activity time was classified into four groups from those requiring a level of activity for participants to be out of breath. In order to identify correlation between major variables, Pearson's correlation analysis was performed. In order to verify whether there was a significant difference on BMI according to confusion variables, independent sample t-test and One-Way ANOVA were conducted. In addition, Chi-square test was performed to verify whether there was a significant difference on obesity proportion according to confusion variables. Logistic regression analysis was also performed to identify variables that significantly influenced on obesity. Results of the Study: According to the result of identifying the correlation among sleeping time, sedentary time, and physical activity time, sleeping time was turned out to have a significant difference depending on sedentary time and physical activity time. On the other hand, according to the result of verifying the difference of proportion from confusion variables, there was a significant difference on all the confusion variables. According to the result of identifying correlation with obesity, there was a lower chance on obesity with sleeping time of more than eight hours than the one of less than six hours (OR=0.897, 95% CI 0.807-0.998). In addition, there was a higher chance on obesity with higher level of satisfaction of sleeping (OR=1.050, 95% CI 1.019-1.081). As for physical activity time, it was turned out that there was a higher chance on obesity if exercising for more than five days compared to when not exercising at all (OR=0.838, 95% CI 0.763-0.920). There was no significant correlation of sedentary time on adolescents obesity. Conclusion: This study is meaningful that it specifically confirmed how there was correlation of sleeping time, sedentary time, and physical activity time on obesity. It seems to be needed to seek for solutions in the national level over local communities instead of limiting an issue of obesity of juveniles to personal level problems according to the result of this cross-sectional research. Furthermore, it is expected to require follow-up prospective research in greater depth.
