There has been a heightened interest among the public, as well as dancers, amid increase in population that enjoy street dance with an increasing interest towards street dance among the general public since 2000s. As street dance has taken an increased educational value, its influence has expanded even to public education, increasing opportunities of specialized education for high schools, universities and social education institutes. The objective of this study was to examine current status of street dance education and present the measures for stimulating street dance education by analyzing domestic and overseas schools that provide specialized curriculum for street dance. For the methodology of study, we analyzed current curriculum of the United States and U.K. where specialized curriculum for street dance is offered, along with curriculum of domestic universities and social education institutes. The subjects of this study were those who graduated from H art high school which provided more than 3-year professional curriculum of street dance. The interview was conducted by category of general matters, internal motivation, external motivation, contents of professional education, and future area. The results of analytical case and in-depth interview were summarized. First, the theory for professional education of street dance needs to be systemized. Books of specific fields which systematically describe history of street dance or principle of movement should be published, rather than simple conveyance of stories or image. Second, various programs should be developed which can help improve creativity by shifting away from non-systematic modes which empathizes only extemporaneousness. Collaborative class and contact class with other genres should be provided, as well as the classes for street dance major, so as to ensure that what have been learned can be practically applied at site after graduation. Third, incremental programs need to be implemented which can help students acquire practical skills from curriculum of class itself and equip themselves with ability to create and present works on stage and facilitate them to build up practical experience through internship at specialized organizations, capable of demonstrating their capabilities at the site after graduation from specialized schools. If the curriculum which specializes in street dance is diversified and systemized based on aforesaid results, it would help spur development of professional education of street dance significantly.
