The purpose of this study is to investigate the effects of dramatherapy for pregnant women on anxiety, stress and self-esteem원문보기

To conduct this study, 12 participants were enlisted, all of whom were 30 to 40 year-old pregnant women residing in Busan and Changwon. These participants were gathered through both online means, including cell phone apps or Internet cafes, and offline means, through various announcements bearing the title “Dramatherapy program for pregnant women”. The final 12 participants were divided into two groups by random assignment, an experimental group and a control group, with each group comprised of six women. Dramatherapy was carried out for the experimental group for a total of eight 90-minute sessions occurring twice a week, whereas no treatment was applied to the control group. In order to examine the effects of the program, pre- and post-inspections for anxiety, stress and self-esteem were carried out, and the SPSS/WIN 20.0 program was used to calculate the mean and standard deviations for each measure. For the purpose of showing the differences between control and experimental group, a MANCOVA analysis of the post-inspection results was carried out with the pre-inspection data acting as covariate variables. In addition, to complement the statistical findings of the quantitative research, an analysis of the group members was run parallel with it. This consisted of ongoing observation-based reports of their experiences and program-specific evaluation sessions. The main findings of the research were as follows: First, the anxiety of the experimental group decreased after participating in dramatherapy, compared to the control group that did not participate in the program. Second, the stress of the experimental group was reduced after dramatherapy, compared to the control group that did not participate in the program. Third, the level of self-esteem in the experimental group was improved meaningfully after dramatherapy compared to the control group that did not participate in the program. Given the findings of this study, dramatherapy seems to be an effective method to improve self-esteem and mitigate the anxiety and stress of pregnant women. Finally, it was verified that the dramatherapy program effectively functions as a medium for the pregnant women to express and share their physical and emotional difficulties, creating a higher sense of self-value and self-esteem.
