This study was conducted to examine the differences in physiological responses to preference for index of greenness and level of index of greenness as the interior landscape indicator. This study was performed in a lab at Konkuk University, Seoul, South Korea and a total of 103 adults (51 male, 52 female) were participated in this study. Physiological responses were measured by heart rate variability (HRV) and electroencephalography (EEG) and the preference for index of greenness and subjective index of greenness were measured by questionnaires. Treatments for the index of greenness in interior space were 5%, 20%, 50%, and 80% and HRV and EEG were measured while the subjects stared plants for 3 minutes in each treatment of the index of greenness. As the results, there was no difference for the each treatment of index of greenness and the average HRV data in each treatment were in the standard range. As the results of comparing the gender difference, the average values of males were higher than those of females in the SDNN, Ln (VLF), Ln (LF), and LF / HF ratio (P <0.05). There was no difference for the each treatment of index of greenness in EEG. Compared to gender difference, the average value for O1 (left occipital) in EEG of female was significantly higher than that of male (P <0.01). Both male and female subjects reported 50 percent of the index of greenness were the most preferred index of greenness for interior landscape. It appeared that feel about 15 percent higher than the actual level of index of greenness in the result of the subjective index of greenness survey. Therefore, the highest level of index of greenness (80 %) and the lowest level of index of greenness (5 %) showed a similar physiological relaxing effect in this study. Limited interior space of a small amount of plant thought to be able to have a relaxing effect.
