The purpose of present study was to compare the relative effects of feedback timing on work performance, feedback acceptance, and preference. Participants were 81 undergraduate and graduate students. All participants were randomly assigned to one of three experimental groups: (1) Feedback before-after group(ABC), (2) Feedback after-before group(ACB), (3) Control group. Participants were asked to work on a computerized task. They attended 7 sessions and performed 10 tasks per session. After baseline (A), one group received feedback before performance until three sessions (B) and feedback after performance in the following three sessions (C). The other group was counterbalanced (ACB). The dependent variables were error rate of the completed tasks, feedback acceptance, and preference. The results showed that the error rate of all feedback groups excluding the control group decreased. But there was no difference of error rate between feedback-before and feedback-after. However, perceived feedback acceptance was higher under the feedback-before than feedback-after. Also, the majority of participants in both groups revealed a preference in favor of feedback-before condition.
