Participants in technical skill competition have not been given recognition for their skills or competence at beauty&cosmetological sites because of the stereotyped notion that their hair design work creation skills and techniques are not applicable to beauty&cosmetological sites and unfit for real applications and despite the recognition of the value in their works created in technical skill competition. Under those circumstances, it would be necessary to promote acquisition of new skills at the sites, improvement of design capabilities, and create opportunities for applying such beauty&cosmetological works to Salon hair styles. In this study, we analyzed beauty&cosmetological works created in hair design category of technical skill competition by considering the components of hair design such as shape, texture, and color. By selecting the representative works based on drawings which were recently presented by Korea Organization Committee of International Skill Olympics, we applied those works in such a way that they could be used at the sites. In addition, this study also aimed to determine the extent of competition awareness among participants who experienced technical skill competition, along with the extent of satisfaction with competition towards the works created through competition. Based on that, we intended to validate utilization of such skills for beauty&cosmetology industries. Moreover, this study was intended to raise awareness of those who had experience with participation in technical skill competition that the works created in technical skill competition could be applicable to the sites by presenting the utilization styles at the sites. In this study, we conducted a survey of participants in technical skill competition to analyze the factors influencing competition awareness, satisfaction with competition, and utilization of beauty&cosmetological sites before and after participation in hair design category of technical skill competition. We analyzed 345 questionnaires which were collected, using SPSS 20.0 statistical program. For analytical methodology, the collected data were processed for frequency analysis, cross-sectional analysis, factor analysis, reliability analysis, regression analysis, independent sample t-test, and one way ANOVA. The results of this study were as follows: First, the analysis on general characteristics of subjects showed that women accounted for larger proportion than men in terms of gender while those in their 20s comprised the largest proportion in terms of age. Regarding the education level, those with college diploma(those currently attending colleges) made up the largest percentage. For career, those with experience of more than 10 years constituted the largest percentage. In connection with competition information source, those who obtained information through schools or private education institutes comprised the largest proportion. For the previously-joined technical skill competition, those who participated in local and national technical skill competitions accounted for the largest proportion. Regarding the number of participation, those who participated once in local technical skill competition and national technical skill competition comprised the largest proportion. For the year of participation, those who participated between 2011 and 2015 accounted for the largest percentage of all respondents. Second, we performed factor analysis on dimension of competition awareness before participation in technical skill competition, and identified two factors which were called 'universal awareness and 'technical competition'. Three factors were identified for the dimension of competition awareness after participation in technical skill competition. Specifically, the three factors were called as 'competition awareness', 'technical awareness', and 'value awareness'. In the meantime, two factors were identified for the dimension of satisfaction with competition. The two factors were called 'satisfaction with works' and 'satisfaction with experience'. The dimension of applicability to beauty&cosmetological sites was revealed as a single factor. Third, we analyzed how the competition awareness was correlated to the satisfaction with competition and applicability to beauty&cosmetological sites before and after participation in technical skill competition. The results showed that competition awareness was correlated significantly to satisfaction with competition and applicability to beauty&cosmetological sites before and after participation in technical skill competition. Fourth, we analyzed the effect that competition awareness would have on satisfaction with competition before participation in technical skill competition. The results showed that there was a positive(+) relationship in which satisfaction with works increased as technical competition factor increased, and there was a positive(+) relationship where satisfaction with experience increased as universal awareness factor increased. Based on analysis of effect that competition awareness would have on satisfaction with competition after participation in technical skill competition, there was a positive(+) relationship in which satisfaction with works also increased as competition awareness and value awareness factors increased while there was a positive(+) relationship where satisfaction with experience increased as value awareness and technical awareness factors increased. We analyzed the effect that competition awareness would have on applicability to beauty&cosmetological sites before participation in technical skill competition. The results showed that there was a positive(+) relationship where applicability to beauty&cosmetological sites increased as technical competition factor increased. Regarding the effect that competition awareness would have on applicability to beauty&cosmetological after participation in technical skill competition, there was a positive(+) relationship in which utilization of beauty&cosmetological sites increased as competition awareness and value awareness factors increased. Fifth, we analyzed the difference in competition awareness before participation in technical skill competition based on general characteristics. The results showed that there was a statistically significant difference in age, career, previously-joined technical skill competition, and year of participation in connection with universal awareness while a statistically significant difference was found to exist in age, education level, career, competition information source, previously-joined technical skill competition, and year of participation in relation to technical competition. We analyzed the difference in competition awareness after participation in technical skill competition. The results showed that there was a statistically significant difference in career, previously-joined technical skill competition, and number of participation regarding competition awareness while a statistically significant difference was found to exist in career, competition information source, and previously-joined technical skill competition regarding technical awareness. Meanwhile, a statistically significant difference was observed in education level, previously-joined technical skill competition, and number of participation in relation to value awareness. Based on results of analysis on satisfaction with technical skill competition, a statistically significant difference was observed in age, education level, career, previously-joined technical skill competition, and number of participation in connection with satisfaction with works while there was a statistically significant difference in education level, competition information source, previously-joined technical skill competition, and number of participation in relation to satisfaction with experience. We analyzed the difference in applicability to beauty&cosmetological sites based on works created through technical skill competition, and the results showed that there was a statistically significant difference in terms of age, education level, career, previously-joined technical skill competition, and number of participation. In conclusion, participants in hair design category of technical skill competition can improve their abilities even at beauty&cosmetological sites through satisfaction with self-development and their works. In other words, various designs can be developed at beauty&cosmetological sites if the works of hair design category in technical skill competition are analyzed and restructured into styles applicable to beauty&cosmetological sites, increasing their utilization value at beauty&cosmetological sites.
