The effect of high-heeled shoes on foot pain and postural imbalance for female University students at the department of air tourism and service원문보기

The main purpose of this study is to discover the level of foot pain and imbalanced posture according to the frequency and time of wearing high-heeled shoes. For this study, high-heeled shoes were those whose heel is greater than 7 cm. This study looked at female students who major in Air Tourism and Service at H university in Seo-san, ChoongNam province. To collect the required information a total of two hundred students, fifty students from each year, were asked to fill in the questionnaire. It consisted of thirty-three questions: five personal information questions, six concerning the wearing of high-heeled shoes, ten regarding the experience of foot pain from the high-heeled shoes, and twelve about lifestyle and posture questions. The method of analysis is verified by frequency, percentage and ranking of the results. In addition, to analyze posture we used an ipad posture measurement app. To do so, I took pictures of an object's front and side view with the PostureScreen Mobile app and then, marked a dot on the specific body parts on the front and side view of the pictures. It showed us how much the subjects' body parts deviated from the gravity center-line. Through the figure, I detected how high-heeled shoes have been changing the female students' posture. The method of analysis is 'one-way ANOVA' in order to know about differences in the degree of pain and changes of posture in their head, shoulder, pelvis, and knee by each grade. If there were any significant differences between groups, I did 'Duncan's multiple range test' as a post-hoc comparison to investigate them. I expected that the degree of foot pain would increase as the time and frequency of wearing of high-heeled shoes increases, but the sophomores gave the highest score of pain. I found that as students moved to a higher academic year, their foot pain was kept steady to some degree. Furthermore, statistically, there was no significant difference in grade comparison. As students moved to higher academic years, there are slightly more students who felt pain in their low back. Even though high-heeled shoe related foot problems and degree of posture imbalance in accordance with lifestyle also increased for each grade, it was negligible in the statistics. Anterior head posture got worse because their head moved to the front side as students moved to a higher academic year. It also showed us the degree of lordosis increased because their low back and pelvis moved toward the front side. In the measurement of posture, at head, shoulder, and pelvis, grade difference (academic year) are meaningful in the statistics. I predicted that my study will show knee hyper-extension posture toward the back side, but their knees only moved slightly toward the front side. However, there was little difference between each grade in the statistics.
