A man is a holistic being in the perspective of biopsychosocial-spiritual dimensions. So, counseling and psychotherapeutic approaches for a human growth, development, treatment and healing should be done in the way of integration of all holistic dimensions. Researchers of foreign countries, especially the United States, were aware of the fact that there needs to be approached for counseling and psychotherapy holistically. Psychological approaches for the spiritual dimension were about to be crucial issues from the mid of 1970. Especially, there was a psychological education in dealing with the issues of spirituality and religion for counseling and psychotherapy between 1980 and 1990. Finally, curriculum for the spiritual and religious issues could be found in the major public universities as well as religious or private ones after 2000. Currently, the spiritual and religious issues for the counseling and psychotherapy are dealt with an important subject in the curriculum of multicultural counseling. The graduate curriculum of counseling and psychotherapy in Korea, however, did not deal with any insights and approaches about human spiritual dimensions yet. Thus, it can be said that it is imperative for developing the spirituality curriculum for counselor education in Korean graduate school. This research is for developing the curriculum of spirituality for the counselor education in the basis of needs assessment. In the process of development of the curriculum of spirituality, the Tyler’s curriculum development model was used for making characteristics, orientations, forms and contents of the spirituality education. Spirituality curriculum development is made by 5 stages of development procedures. The first stage is for the meed assessment for counseling psychologists and graduate students who are pursing the master’s or doctoral degree in the major of counseling psychology. The focus group interview for graduate students has been done. and the results of survey for counseling psychologists have been cited for this purpose. The result of these need assessments was that the Korean counseling psychologists and graduate students had in their mind that spirituality education was necessary and they were willing to be educated. The second state is for making theoretical foundation in the spirituality curriculum development, thus the qualitative content analysis was done basically. The qualitative content analysis consists of 3 methodologies in three processes like the following: data selecting process-systematic literature review, data categorization and coding process-consensual qualification research, and data interpretation-interpretive content analysis. The 149 studies were selected, categorized/coded, and analysed in this second stage and the analysed data were used for the basis and foundation of contents and forms of the curriculum development. The third stage was an investigation in order to find the status quo of the spirituality education in the counseling and clinical psychology programs. The major 30 universities in US and Canada, which is approved by APA and CACREP was chosen and analysed in relation to spirituality education. As a result, 12(40%) out of 30 universities had curriculums for spirituality and religion. The fourth stage is for the development of curriculum based on the results of 1-3 stages. The last fifth stage is for the evaluation process. At this stage, evaluation worksheet was developed and the evaluation process was performed by the four expert panel. The final version of spirituality curriculum was made by the modification and complement by the evaluation processes. Features, meanings, limitations, and future research suggestions for spirituality curriculum development are discussed.
