This research focuses on the actual state of music activities conducted in the infant care centers in Korea. The purpose of this research is to provide primary data for facilitating more efficient infant music activities and direction of desirable infant music activities. The subjects of this study are based on 184 infant nursery teachers who are teaching infant nursing classes; 98 teachers were teaching age one infants and 86 teachers were teaching age two infants working in Seoul metropolitan area and Kyunggi province. To conduct surveys on the actual state of music activities on infants, previous studies from Hyun Ju Kim(2015) and Ju Hee Seo(2012) were used as reference. The conclusions of this study are as follows. First, 'the infant's interests and attention(63%)' were significant factors in determining the purpose and management aspects of music activities to infants (from age one to age two). For planning musical activities, 'the infant's development and interest level(60%)' and 'implementing during daily tasks(58%)' were considered the most. Whereas, 'the organization of the music program' were not a considered significant but 'normal(36%)'. For the way of conducting the music program to infants, 'teacher oriented program(50%)' and 'autonomy to infants(46%)' were both highly considered. Obstacles on conducting the music program to infants were 'limited class materials and teaching tools(36%)'. In addition, when teachers were 'evaluating(66%)' their music program, 'the infants' interest and demand(61%)' were most considered. 'Based on this evaluation, materials that meets the infants' demand(70%)' were used in class. Second, survey results in the current usage of 'content and teaching methods', teachers frequently utilized 'singing(34%)' and less in 'music appreciation(5%)'. Looking at the content of music activity, 'sound searching' activity and 'searching for instrument sounds(55%)' were the most frequently used contents. For methods, 'preparing instruments according to interest level and searching sounds in moving objects(68%)' were the most used methods in music activities for infants. 'Singing activities' for age 1 to age 2 infants were mostly conducted in 'small group(49%)' than in a large group. During 'free activity(48%)' teachers would bring songs they have prepared and sing together with the infants. Also, during 'transition activities(42%)' teachers would encourage infants to sing in a group or to sing while moving. For 'instrument searching and playing instruments' activities both in age one and two classes 'playing along with the music(52%)' were the most preferred method to teachers. However, in the age two class, 'searching instrument sounds(47%)' were also frequently used teaching method by teachers. Both in the age one and two infant nursery class, 'searching instruments according to interest level(43%)' and 'proceeding together with other music activities(45%)' were highly utilized. On the 'expressing physical traits with music' section, both age one and two classes, 'dancing while singing(54%)' were frequently used. 'Expressing yourself creatively(50%)' were the most preferred teaching method during free activity time. For 'music appreciation' activity, both classes in age one and two, teachers mostly utilized 'children songs(69%)' in their class. In addition, turning on the children songs during 'free activity time(42%)' were deemed effective. Exceptionally, for age two infants, teachers considered that music appreciation in a fixed time during 'free activity time or transition time(38%)' were more effective.
