The purpose of this study was to examine the effects of song-rewriting activities through the experience of mathematical inquiry on young children's mathematical ability, mathematical attitude, and creativity, thus working out the directivity and basic data on the method of actual teaching of song-rewriting activities through the experience of mathematical inquiry that could be applied to the actual scenes of education, and making young children grow up as a talented person who equipped with mathematical ability, mathematical attitude, and creativity. For this, study questions were established as follows: 1. 'What effects do the song-rewriting activities through mathematical inquiry activities have on young children's mathematical ability?' 2. 'What effects do the song-rewriting activities through mathematical inquiry activities have on young children's mathematical attitude?' 3. 'What effects do the song-rewriting activities through mathematical inquiry activities have on young children's creativity?' Study subjects were 44 children of five years old (14 boys and 26 girls) at the two classes of Y Kindergarten in Dongjak-gu, Seoul. Study was carried out by the procedure of preliminary test, pre-test, experiment and post-test. As the test tool of pre- and post-test, 'The Mathematical Ability Picture Test for Young Children' developed by Hwang Hae-ik & Choe Hye-jin (2007) was used to test young children's mathematical ability. In order to test young children's mathematical attitude, 'The Mathematical Attitude Test' worked out by Park Ji-yeong & Hwang Hae-ik (2006) by reference to Eccles (1983) and Hwang Hae-ik (1989) was used. In order to examine young children's creativity, TTCT: Figural (Thinking Creatively with Pictures) of TTCT (Torrance Tests of Creative Thinking) which was translated and standardized by Kim Yeong-chae (2010) was used. Experiment was carried out in 16 sessions during a period of 8 weeks, from October 5 to November 27, 2015. Based on the same life themes, both the experiment group and the control group carried out large-group or small-group mathematical inquiry activities. However, children in the experiment group carried out song-rewriting activities after the experience of mathematical inquiry as an extension of activity, whereas children in the control group only carried out mathematical inquiry activities without any extended activities. Collected data were analyzed with the SPSS 21.0 program. And in order to examine the homogeneity of mathematical ability, mathematical attitude, and creativity of young children in both groups before the experiment, together with the difference of post-test between the two groups, t-test was carried out. Study findings are as follows: First, the total score of mathematical ability of children in the experiment group who carried out song-rewriting activities through the experience of mathematical inquiry was higher than that of children in the control group. Regarding the sub-areas of mathematical ability, the mean score of children in the experiment group was higher in all the four sub-areas, such as 'algebra,' 'number and calculation,' 'geometry,' and 'measurement' than that of children in the control group, and the difference was statistically significant. Second, the total score of mathematical attitude of children in the experiment group who carried out song-rewriting activities through the experience of mathematical inquiry was higher than that of children in the control group. Regarding the sub-areas of mathematical attitude, the mean score of children in the experiment group was higher in all the four sub-areas, such as 'interest in mathematics,' 'self-conception of mathematics,' 'awareness of assignment,' and 'the encouragement and expectation of people around' than that of children in the control group, and the difference was statistically significant. Third, the total score of creativity of children in the experiment group who carried out song-rewriting activities through the experience of mathematical inquiry was higher than that of children in the control group. Regarding the sub-areas of creativity, the mean score of children in the experiment group was higher in such three sub-areas as 'fluency,' 'abstractness of title,' 'resistance to hasty finish' except 'originality' and 'sophistication' than that of children in the control group, and the difference was statistically significant. Based on the above study findings, song-rewriting activities through the experience of mathematical inquiry seem to be an effective teaching method which has effects on the improvement of young children's mathematical ability, mathematical attitude, and creativity. Therefore, in order to improve young children's mathematical ability, mathematical attitude, and creativity, it is necessary to carry out song-rewriting activities through the experience of mathematical inquiry actively in the actual scenes of education.
