W. A. Mozart Fantasy in d minor, K.

D. Scarlatti Sonata K. 531, a sonata in E major composed in galant style, is noted for its simple form and refined tone. Although written in binary form, the style of this galant sonata is characterized by many modulation, expressing the beauty of elegance and brevity. Sonata K. 322 a sonata in A major is noted for its simple form and naive tone.
W. A. Mozart Fantasy in d minor is a masterpiece with the challenging spirit of Mozart, aiming to derive from existing forms of sonata and create various styles. The structure of this piece includes an opera-like melody, an Intro of solemn atmosphere, and two Cadenzas. The latter half, transposed to D major for the change of atmosphere, also includes a cadenza, resulting in the unique form of this master piece.
M. Mussorgsky Pictures at an Exhibition, one of the major piano works of Mussorgsky, is a demanding piece with more than 30 minutes of duration, asking infinite imagination and abundant power to the performer. In this work, Mussorgsky condensed his manifold feelings and imaginations achieved through the memorial exhibition of his dearest friend, painter and architect Victor Hartmann(1834-1873) who had came to an untimely end. This master piece is made up of six promenades which expressed the gaits and sentiments of the composer himself, and ten short compositions.
M. Ravel La Valse expresses on one hand the reverence of Ravel for Johann Strauss II (1825-1899), on the other hand the reminiscence of fancy dances of noblemen among the chaos of warfare. This tour de force exhibits its true qualities by conserving the elegance and brilliance of the Waltz, although it daringly attacked the typical form of this genre. Originally composed for the orchestra, Ravel arranged it for the piano with adding all the techniques and colors of the instrument; as a result, his arrangement made it hard to play, showing the limitation of the technique in piano.
