언어발달지체 아동의 새로운 어휘 습득 시 과제에 따른 유지능력의 차이 The Effects of Syllable Formation Intervention Program with Visual Cues on the Improvement of Phonological Awareness and Speech Sound Production Abilities of Children with Intellectual Disabilities원문보기

This study is made to check sustainability of language when children with language delays and children without disabilities of pre-school age acquire vocabulary. We selected six children with language delays whose chronological age are 6-7 that is higher than their language age about 6-12 months and six children without disabilities whose chronological age are 5-6 that is under six months than their language age. They were required to repeat two syllables non-words to be confirmed differences in encoding ability and to find new words after listening them and analogize meaning of the words to be confirmed differences in cognitive capability of language. Also we conducted verbal tasks and non-verbal tasks to find differences in acquiring language ability followed by differences in vocabulary maintenance capability. The results are as follows.
1. Comparison of repetition coding ability of them have found gap in average scores from 69.67 of children without disabilities to 34.33 of children with language delays. It means that children with language delays have lower repetition coding ability. 2. Comparison of vocabulary recognition capability of them have found that children without disabilities got a perfect score 5.00 of finding new words after listening them and analogize meaning of the words but children with language delays got lower scores the former 4.50 and the later 4.67. It is statistically not meaningful, but we found that children with language delays have lower vocabulary recognition capability. 3. Comparison of acquiring language ability of them have found that children without disabilities got verbal tasks scores 6.67 and non-verbal tasks scores 5.33 respectively but children with language delays got 3.67 and 1.00. It shows that children with language delays have been affected more by tasks than children without disabilities whey they learn new words.
When all the results were combined, it suggest that children with language delays have lower capabilities of repetition coding ability, vocabulary recognition capability and acquiring language ability than children without disabilities and they have difficulty to learn new words and maintain them. Also if they acquire new vocabularies, it is more beneficial to remember phoneme temporarily and conduct more non-verbal tasks than verbal tasks for their sustainability of language.
