Synthesis of hexagonal-shaped Li4Ti5O12/Rutile TiO2 as an anode material in lithium-ion batteries원문보기

Spinel Li4Ti5O12 (LTO) has been considered as an ideal material for lithium ion batteries, because of its excellent long-term cycling lifetime endowed by a negligible volume variation during lithium intercalation/deintercalation processes. Besides, spinel Li4Ti5O12 does not form solid electrolyte interphase (SEI) because the Li-insertion process occurs at around 1.5 V (versus Li/Li+). Despite such advantages, however, increasing the capacity and the electronic conductivity of the Li4Ti5O12 remains a challenge. In this work, Li4Ti5O12 containing rutile TiO2 (LTO/TiO2) that improves the capacity is synthesized by a simple technique of controlling the pH during a hydrothermal method. The presence of a mixed phase of LTO/TiO2 is confirmed by X-ray diffraction (XRD) and its unique morphology identified by scanning electron microscope (SEM) and transmission electron microscope (TEM). Cyclic voltammetry (CV), electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) and galvanostatic intermittent titration technique (GITT) reveal a larger diffusion coefficient (DLi+) for the LTO/TiO2 as compared to pristine LTO. The specific capacity at a discharging process of 1 C reaches 142 mAhg-1. Also, it appears a lower charge transfer resistance and a higher diffusion coefficient.
