This study divides adults at the age of 19 or older into Non-senescence group and Senescence group and compares the differences of their general characteristics, health behavior characteristics, chronic diseases, and dietary lives in relation to tuberculosis. This is a descriptive correlation research to analyze factors influencing tuberculosis and provide interventions to prevent tuberculosis in different age groups. This author uses data from the 6th Korea National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey in 2013 and 2014. The study tool is used to examine their general characteristics, health behavior, dietary life, and chronic disease. For analysis, SPSS 23.0 is employed to perform the complex sample-design chi-square test, and Logistic regression analysis. All the levels of statistical significance are set as under 0.05. The general characteristics of adults at the age of 19 or older in relation to tuberculosis include their sex, age, family income, educational level, marital status, and occupation. About sex, women indicated 3.1% prevalence rate, and men 4.9%, so men showed higher tuberculosis prevalence rate (P< 0.001). Concerning age, those aged from 19 to 64 indicated 3.4% prevalence rate, and those over 65 6.9%, so those in senescence showed higher tuberculosis prevalence rate (P< 0.001). Regarding household income, the low group indicated higher tuberculosis prevalence rate (5.2%, P=0.042). About their education level, high school graduation (3.6%) and college graduation (3.1%) showed lower tuberculosis prevalence rate than elementary school graduation or lower (5.5%) and middle school graduation (6.1%) (P< 0.001). Concerning their marital status, the unmarried indicated 1.7% prevalence rate, and the married 4.6%, so tuberculosis prevalence rate was found to be higher in the married (P<0.001). About their job types, compared to other occupational clusters, agriculture, forestry, and fishery, machinery, and manufacturing (5.4%) and simple labor workers (5.5%) indicated higher tuberculosis prevalence rate (P=0.007). About health behavior, there is difference in smoking and drinking. Concerning smoking, those who have never smoked (3.4%) or those presently smoking (3.7%) showed lower tuberculosis prevalence rate than those who smoked once but stopped smoking (6.0%) (P< 0.001). About drinking, if drinking frequency is higher, tuberculosis prevalence is higher, too (P<0.001). Concerning whether they have chronic disease or not, there is difference in tuberculosis prevalence in diabetes, hypertension, cerebral infarction, and hyperlipemia. Those having diabetes, hypertension, cerebral infarction, or hyperlipemia indicated higher tuberculosis prevalence rate. The general characteristics of Non-senescence group in relation to tuberculosis include their sex, educational level, marital status, occupation, drinking, diabetes, hypertension, cerebral infarction and hyperlipemia. About sex, women indicated 2.7% prevalence rate, and men 4.2%, so men showed higher tuberculosis prevalence rate (P=0.005). About their education level, high school graduation (3.3%) and college graduation (2.8%) showed lower tuberculosis prevalence rate than elementary school graduation or lower (4.7%) and middle school graduation (5.3%) (P<=0.014). Concerning their marital status, the unmarried indicated 1.6% prevalence rate, and the married 4.1%, so tuberculosis prevalence rate is found to be higher in the married (P<0.001). About their job types, compared to other occupational clusters, agriculture, forestry, and fishery, machinery, and manufacturing (5.2%) indicated higher tuberculosis prevalence rate (P=0.010). About health behavior, if drinking frequency is higher, tuberculosis prevalence is higher, too (P=0.004). The general characteristics of Senescence group in relation to tuberculosis include their sex, BMI and smoking. In detail, about sex, women indicated 4.9% prevalence rate, and men 9.4%, so men showed higher tuberculosis prevalence rate (P< 0.001). Regarding BMI, low weight indicated high prevalence rate as 20.6% (P<0.001). About smoking in health behavior, those who have never smoked (5.5%) or those presently smoking (5.7%) showed lower tuberculosis prevalence rate than those who smoked once but stopped smoking (10.7%) (P=0.001). Sex, age, marital status, BMI, and diabetes mellitus are the risk factors for tuberculosis in adults aged 19 or over. About sex, men indicated 1.81 times higher cross ratio than women, and the senescence group showed 1.52 times higher cross ratio than the non-senescence group. Concerning their marital status, 2.67 times higher cross ratio was found in the married than in the unmarried. About BMI, 2.13 times higher cross ratio was found in low weight than in obesity. Those having diabetes indicated 1.57 times higher cross ratio than those not. The risk factor for tuberculosis in Non-senescence group is sex, marital status and cerebral infarction. Men indicated 1.75 times higher cross ratio than women, and 2.51 times higher cross ratio was found in the married than in the unmarried. Those suffering cerebral infarction showed 2.46 times higher cross ratio than those not. The risk factor for tuberculosis in Senescence group is BMI and diabetes. 4.42 times higher cross ratio was found in low weight than in obesity. Those having diabetes indicated 1.71 times higher cross ratio. This study has found that in relation to tuberculosis, general characteristics, health behavior, and chronic disease characteristics are differently found in age groups. Risk factors for tuberculosis also differ. It implies that it is important to employ tuberculosis prevention and management in consideration of the characteristics of different age groups.
