This study was carried out as part of the academic research. The first part was designed as a basic pattern for economic growth and progress of least sdeveloping countries in Asia, such as Myanmar, Laos, Cambodia, etc. This paper focuses on the aspects of Korea’s industrialization and democratization processes from 1963 to now. The study on industrialization presented here highlighted on Park Chung-hee’s strategy of economic growth and Chun Doo-hwan’s anti-inflation policy. There are two sides to every coin and it seems that every successful policy has its price. Such being the case, this dissertation also looks at the negative impact of the plan of compressed growth. Proposed evaluation of the process of democratization considers steps taken by previous presidents, from Roh Tae-woo to Lee Ayung-Bak leading towards political, economic and social changes in South Korea. It provides a clear analysis of each leader’s innovatory reforms, policies, driving force, creativity and ability to overcome crises. On the other hand, it also shows that the new head of state tends to assume exaggerated goals for administration in the beginning of the term and when they fail to be accomplished, more often than not, the president faces drop in national approval rating and credibility. Majority of huge corruption cases have their source in moral degradation, and leaders linked to such cases can be considered a failure. Therefore, this analysis try to suggests which points should be treated with special caution during the elections and when introducing a new administration. The second part of this dissertation focuses, on recent corruption scandals, real estate speculation and inequality through prism of reality as well as it proposes what lessons are to be learned from the processes of industrialization and democratization in South Korea. The author suggests that the problem of corruptions continues to be exist regardless of the efforts made by the government, such as drafting the Anti-Bribery and Graft Act (the so called “Kim Young-ran Act). This may some how imply that a law should be adjusted to include not only the acts of those who accept bribes, but also those who offer them. The final part of the report presents author’s concluding analysis and future perspective, as well as her belief that the issues of inequality within the society can be minimized only trough active participation of it’s citizens and it is the responsibility of the state the primary duty bearer to raise the awareness of the people and commit fully to the reform and development of the nation.
