The purpose of this study was to analyze the character of the creative design processes that appear at the creative design stage of the design thinking based on STEAM class and what factors affect the creative design process. It also aims to provide ample information for the creative design processes for creative design processes and appropriate guidance. The study conducted a survey of the science interest and career hope of 29 students who were in sixth grade to select the research participants who fit the purpose of research. In order to classify the characteristics of different groupings, sorted out the final four participants according to the level of math, science and evaluation. I developed the design thinking based on STEAM program to look more specific the creative design process. The project was conducted with a total of 12 sheets of paper materials. The qualitative analysis of the creative design process in STEAM program is as follows. The creative design process is the four steps in ‘problem cognition’, ‘design’, ‘making’, and ‘evaluation’. As a result of analyzing the protocols gained step-by-step, the creative design process has a beginning point and ending point. From problem cognition step to evaluation step, it is possible to ensure that the process of designing and building is occurring in a complex and iterative manner. The problem cognition step affects problem solving in the next step, depending clarity and understanding of the problem. In the design step, students usually picture their ideas graphically, creating a better plan through peer consensus. Knowledge used to solve problems is mainly learned through experiences and situations. The more experienced the experience, the easier it was to agree. During the making step, simplified experiments were made to find and complement the problem, the process continued to be repeated until the final outcome came out. They solved the problem by trial and error through repeated experiments. At the evaluation step, they did not confirm that the initial objective was reached, and tended to end the experiment with simple troubleshooting. There was no further probing on the question of during the course of the problem. It means that the reflective thinking and development of the solution did not work properly. Therefore, the conclusions of this study are as follows. First, The Problem solving process of the design thinking based on STEAM classes is not anticipatory and is cyclical and complex. So, Teachers should provide sufficient time for students to create and simulate ideas and accept the solving problems through trial and error. Second, Having presented the STEAM class as a practical problem in the real world, there was less fear of students' failure and heightened motivation and enthusiasm. Providing with the real topic and open questions in classrooms can lead to students’ voluntary participation in the classroom. Third, In the design thinking based on STEAM class, students develop concrete ideas through visualization courses. The group of students maked the best solutions through communication. Therefore, to assist students in solving the creative problem-solving skills should be provided a varied experience, such as providing students with ideas, and improved ability to express and communicate their thoughts.
