This study was conducted to estimate genetic parameters of carcass traits of Hanwoo steer(Bos taurus coreanae) with BLUPF90 package and compare the results obtained through two multiple traits animal models. A total of 4,586 Hanwoo steers progeny tested data from the Hanwoo Improvement Center were used and the carcass traits used in the analysis were carcass weight(CWT, kg), eye muscle area(EMA, cm2), backfat thickness(BFT, mm) and marbling score(MS, score). The contemporary groups for fixed effect of model 1 consisted of 'batch of progeny test - progeny tested cattle barn - slaughter date' and the comtemporary groups of model 2 were grouped according to 'batch of progeny test - progeny tested cattle barn', and the covariance was set to days at slaughter age. The estimated heritabilities of CWT, EMA, BFT and MS of Model 1 were 0.33, 0.48, 0.53 and 0.61, and model 2 was estimated to 0.38, 0.48, 0.50 and 0.59, respectively. The genetic correlations of EMA, BFT and MS for CWT were 0.56, 0.10 and 0.35 in model 1 and 0.56, 0.20 and 0.29 in model 2. Those of BFT, MS for EMA were -0.23, 0.36 in model 1 and -0.21, 0.38 in model 2. Genetic correlation between BFT and MS was -0.02 in both model. The accuracy of breeding value of carcass weight in model 1 was much higher than 44.75% of model 2 by 64.24%. And the accuracy of EMA in model 1 was significantly higher than 72.01% in model 2 by 73.24%. That of MS in model 2 was significantly higher than 78.77% in model 1 by 79.77% and there was no significant difference in accuracy of MS between model 1 and model 2.
