유기성분의 기원을 POA(HOA1, HOA2)와 SOA(OOA1, OOA2, OOA3)로 구분하였다.

Fine particle is being emphasized as a big social issue also in Korea as it has recently risen in prominence in terms of climate change and human health science. In order to effectively solve such fine particle problems, the current status of fine particle should first be investigated through scientific research that identifies chemical characteristics and generation origin of fine particle and then policy measures and plans should be established based on this data. This study identified the characteristics and origin of chemical composition of PM1.0 in the atmosphere, which is particle smaller than fine particle(PM2.5). Taking the representativeness of measuring point, Baengnyeong Island on the west sea and Seoul that represents inland city areas were selected and the characteristics of the two points in summer, June, 2014, were compared. Then, the results were considered. Mass concentration of PM1.0 in Baengnyeong Island was average 14.3 ㎍/㎥ and that is Seoul in the same period was 22.4 ㎍/㎥, which was about 1.6 times higher than Baengnyeong Island. Comparing PM1.0 measurement data in Baengnyeong Island and Seoul with PM2.5 environmental quality standard value, the rate at which PM1.0 exceeded the daily basis of PM2.5 in Seoul was found to be 2 % while the rate at which PM1.0 exceeded the yearly basis of PM2.5 was found to be 5 %. However, considering that the concentration of PM2.5 was generally higher that of PM1.0, the exceeding rate will be much increased. Moreover, as this result was measured in summer which was cleaner than other seasons, the rate can be increased more if the measurements in spring, fall and winter are reflected. Looking at the chemical components comprising PM1.0, sulfate was predominant with 48 % in Baengnyeong Island while organic component was highest with 39 % in Seoul. As for inorganic component of PM1.0, the percentage of acidic particle that was not neutralized was found to be high both in Baengnyeongdo Island and Seoul. Diurnal characteristic of chemical components of PM1.0 showed distinct difference in Baengnyeong Island and Seoul and was observed to be more characteristic in Seoul than Baengnyeong Island. In Seoul, nitrate component was greatly increased during the morning rush hour and organic and sulfate components were actively generated from noon. Through this, secondary aerosol in the atmosphere was found to be actively generated in downtown of Seoul. As for organic components of PM1.0 in Baengnyeong Island, OOA component was mainly working more than HOA component whereas the proportion of HOA was higher than that of OOA in Seoul, showing high percentage of organic aerosol which is newly growing. Size distribution of chemical components of PM1.0 was compared and the size peak of chemical components appeared in relatively larger range in Baengnyeong Island and Seoul than other areas. The secondary organic particles were actively generated in Seoul during summer. And organic component of PM1.0 was analyzed. H/C, O/C, N/C, and OM/OC ratios of Baengnyeong Island were found to be 1.46, 0.70, 0.012, and 2.08, respectively while Seoul showed 1.54, 0.39, 0.007, and 1.67, respectively. Baengnyeong Island showed higher O/C ratio than Seoul, which means that the oxidation level of organic components was high. The reason is believed to be that the aging time of aerosol particle in Baengnyeong Island was longer than that in Seoul because airflow comes from outside more frequently due to the geographical characteristics of island. On the contrary, H/C ratio was high in Seoul although oxidation level was low, which was characterized by high contribution of OA component generated in city area. The distribution characteristic of chemical components of PM1.0 according to wind speed and direction, a meteorological factor, was investigated. Each chemical component of both of Baengnyeong Island and Seoul showed different distribution characteristic according to wind speed and direction. The airflow came in Baengnyeong Island from the direction near land and concentration was high when the wind speed was low. The direction of main wind in the measuring point of Seoul was toward downtown area of Seoul and the volatility of aerosol in main wind was high because fresh aerosol components emitted from various pollutants in downtown area were flowed in while the oxidation level was high when wind speed was low and airflow was stagnant. The origin of organic components of PM1.0 in Baengnyeong Islandand and Seoul was estimated using PMF model. The origin of organic components was classified into POA(HOA1, HOA2) and SOA(OOA1, OOA2 and OOA3). POA and SOA ratios of Baengnyeong Island were found to be 20 % and 80 % while Seoul showed 25 % and 75 % respectively. Baengnyeong Islandand and Seoul showed high percentage of SOA in organic fraction. There was no distinct diurnal variation observed in Baengnyeongdo Island and and this is because most of organic components are flowed from outside. On the contrary, Seoul showed distinct diurnal variation and was found to be influenced by secondary generation based on the fact that OOA1 and OOA2 were increased in day time. The secondary generation amount of PM1.0 component was calculated by performing volatility test through heating of PM1.0 aerosol. Black carbon of PM1.0 in the atmosphere was very thermally-stable and most of it was considered as primary emitted component. 32 % of components of PM1.0 including black carbon was very thermally-stable and the rest chemical components showed easy thermal volatilization because their enthalpy is low and coherence was weak. The secondary generated products in the atmosphere through various reaction routes in this study is believed to be about over 68 % of PM1.0. Fine particle in the atmosphere showed highly various dynamic characteristics and is constantly generated and changes. Therefore, it is very difficult to effectively manage this. This study examined chemical characteristics and the origin of organic components of PM1.0 in Baengnyeong Island and Seoul and the result showed the inflow from outside was high in Baengnyeong Island whereas generation in downtown area was high in Seoul. It is considered there is a need to effectively manage fine particle in the atmosphere based on the PM1.0 characteristics.
