With the economic development since the 20th century, consumers' desires are becoming more and more diverse, resulting that they are actively consuming fashion products in a self - expression way to create their own images rather than unified fashion. In addition, unlike the past, consumers are more actively satisfying their desires, while focusing more on value than before. With this consumption of value, a new word "P-type consumer" has emerged. It is a word referring to people who enjoy a consumer life based on their own criteria, who do not hesitate to purchase at a more expensive price even added with a premium If they think that it is worth to do so for themselves. And it also refers to consumers who actively participate in issues of passion and interest according to their own viewpoints, and want to show off and be recognized by owning such products. Targeting these consumers, several brands in various fields launched products that sell in limited quantities, and such limited-edition marketing has emerged as a way to promote sales that has positive results. Stationery brand Monami released the 50th anniversary limited edition of the 153 ballpoint pen and sold 10,000 pieces in two days at a price of 20,000 won, and as for collaboration with H&M's designer brand Balmain, most of the products have been consumed all over the world in six hours. For the Monami 153 ballpoint pen, the original price is 200 won, whereas the limited edition's price is 100 times the original price. Nevertheless, for the online store, the homepage became paralyzed shortly after launch, and the products were sold out early. And for the offline store also, the entire volume was sold in two days. People's reactions were positive regardless of their high price, and there were many evaluations that it would be worth it. Even after the out of stock, the price has been increased 10 to 15 times higher on websites for second-hand items. As such, limited-edition marketing is steadily being used, and studies related to marketing with such scarcity messages are being carried out continuously. However, in the field of fashion, there is a lack of research on interaction between consumer psychological factors and scarcity messages. In addition, I refer to the existing research that price-sensitive consumers focus on discounting rather than value, seeking practical consumption, in the setting of variable, and see the limitedness of the product as the value of value consumption. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to provide the information needed for effective use of scarcity messages according to the target by examining the influence of consumer's desire for uniqueness and price sensitivity on consumer's purchase intention when exposed to scarcity message. In this study, questionnaire survey method was used and the subjects of the study were convenience sampling of women in their 20s and 30s living in the metropolitan area of Korea. The collection of data for the research was conducted in two stages, from August 24, 2016 to October 24, 2016, for about two months. A total of 230 completed questionnaires were used for the final analysis. The data collected in this study were applied to frequency analysis, factor analysis, reliability analysis, regression analysis and one-way ANOVA, using SPSS 18.0, and for posteriori tests, Tukey's test was used. The results of this study are summarized as follows: First, consumers' desire for uniqueness consists of originality seeking, non - popular pursuit, and similarity avoidance factors. Second, consumers' attitudes toward scarcity messages consist of favorable feelings for products and psychological pressure. Third, consumers' desire for uniqueness did not affect the product favorability among consumers' attitude toward scarcity message. Fourth, consumers' psychological pressure was shown higher when the originality seeking factor among consumers' desires of uniqueness was higher, whereas it was higher when the non - popular seeking factor was lower. The similarity avoidance factors showed no significant effect on psychological pressure. Fifth, consumers' price sensitivity did not affect product favorability among consumers' attitude toward scarcity message. Sixth, it is shown that the higher the consumer's price sensitivity, the greater the feeling of psychological pressure due to the scarcity message. Seventh, the higher the desire for originality among the consumers' desires for uniqueness, the higher the purchase intention. On the other hand, the lower the non - popular seeking, the higher the purchase intention. The similarity avoidance factors showed no significant effect on consumers' purchase intention. Eighth, the higher the price sensitivity of consumers, the higher the purchase intention of consumers for scarce goods. Ninth, consumers' attitudes toward scarcity messages increased as both consumers' psychological pressure and product favorability were higher. Tenth, the age differences of the consumers' desire for uniqueness showed significant differences in the originality seeking factors, while the age differences did not show in the non-popular seeking and similarity avoidance tendencies. The desire for originality was higher in the 20-24 age group than in the 35-39 age group. Eleventh, when examining consumers' attitudes toward scarcity messages by ages, there was no significant difference in the product favorability, but psychological pressure was significantly higher in the 20-24 age group than in the 35-39 age group. Twelfth, consumers' price sensitivity and consumers' purchase intention for scarce goods showed no difference according to age. Through the results of this study, the following implications can be drawn: The feeling of psychological pressure and the product favorability due to scarcity messages had an effect to increase consumers' purchase intention. Therefore, it is necessary to establish a marketing strategy to stimulate consumers' desires for originality in order to give psychological pressure to consumers when implementing scarcity marketing. It is believed that the non-popular pursuit factor among the consumers' desires for uniqueness will have a negative impact on both the psychological pressure factor and the purchase intention for the scarcity message, so that proper consumer targeting should be done accordingly in order for the marketing to be developed more effectively. Consumers' price sensitivity showed a positive (+) effect on both psychological pressure and consumers' purchase intention on toward scarcity message. Even though the rate of consumers' desires for uniqueness is shown lower than the researcher's expectation, when considering the newly created words and the flow of consumption patterns, consumers' psychology, which is a desire for uniqueness, will affect the marketing strategy for sales promotion in the future. Therefore, I hope that further research will be conducted to help understand the market by complementing the value that consumers regard highly.
