Flying discs are simple in shape, but show a great difference from the flight dynamics of a typical aircraft in that they rotate rapidly. In many articles, aerodynamic data of a flying disc were obtained through wind tunnel or computational fluid analysis. As a result, it was found that there is a remarkable difference in flying characteristics when the flying disc rotates and when it does not rotate. However, accurate experimental data and posture navigation are needed to verify the flight simulation that reflects the obtained aerodynamic data. If the actual shape, weight, and position of the sensor module attached to the flying disc are not appropriate, the flight characteristic is significantly distorted. In addition, the sensors attached to the flying disc (especially the IMU) which are rotating rapidly are not only able to obtain accurate values due to various noise factors, but also deviate from the measurement range of the IMU at the rotational speed. Therefore, this paper develops a light, thin and circular measurement module, minimizing the influence on the flight characteristics of the flying disc during attachment. Also, the rotational speed of the flying disc, which was difficult to measure with the inertial sensor, was estimated by using the magnetic sensor mounted on the measuring module, and the position and velocity of the flying disc were measured by using GPS which was not used in the previous research. Especially, in the repeated experiment, the rotational speed of the flying disc was obtained through the magnetic sensor and the rotational damping coefficient was expressed as a function of the flying speed and the rotational speed. The aerodynamic data of the flying disc were completed by adding the rotational damping coefficient proposed in this study to the aerodynamic coefficient obtained by the computational fluid analysis. This paper presents a flight dynamics model based on the aerodynamic data of the flying disc and determines the appropriate Euler rotation order by utilizing the point that there is no change in shape when rotating. In this paper, we developed a position and orientation navigation simulator for flying disc and simulated the initial flight speed and rotational speed measured by the measurement module in the simulator. Also, the validity of the simulator was verified by comparing the flight trajectory obtained by the simulation with the GPS position information.
